Shigeru Miyamoto himself has said it - they'll be moving along with the
progress of technology and he wants to see games with better graphics.
Couple that with the rumor that a graphically-superior Nintendo DS is
on its way, then perhaps Nintendo has been busying itself with
preparing new hardware. For now, they're working on existing hardware,
turning white controllers black, and enlisting balance boards in the
fight against terrorism. |

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (Wii and DS) proved
to be a phenomenal success on both the DS and the Wii, racking up five
million sales worldwide a mere three months after its January release
in 2008. Will the second time be a charm for Nintendo's iconic
characters? We'll find out soon enough as the follow-up to the first
Olympic Games, Mario & Sonic at the Winter Olympic Games, gets dated for October. |

It would seem that THQ is in an experimental mood. Perhaps due to the trouble it has received at the hands of a wrestling company, the video game publisher has decided to switch to cheerleaders instead. Yes, you heard us right. THQ has announced what is supposed to be the first-ever cheerleading video game: All Star Cheer Squad. Look for more "cheery" news after the jump. |

Media Create's software sales chart for the week ending December 2 shows that Nintendo DS titles still sell the most software with Level 5's Professor Layton and Pandora's Box on top. On the other hand, the Wii Balance Board peripheral proved attractive enough and sold many copies of Wii Fit along with it. To know what's hot in Japan, head over to the full article! |

Roll out the red carpet! Leipzig Messe has just announced the winners for the "Best of GC" during the Leipzig Games Convention 2007. The awards span across all current generation platforms and other industry-related tidbits showcased during the event, all dispersed under ten respective categories. Among the list of 85 hardware and software entries, a lineup of finalists have been revealed. And with those finalists, it seemed to be a tough call on which to choose as the winner. Each of the finalists had their own big plus to bring into the table, that's for sure. Regardless, the winners have already been announced. Here's the full list of winners of the Best of GC, each in their own category:

Looks like a lot of people are becoming more and more interested in Wii Fit and its introduction of the Wii Balance Board to the gaming industry. Two of which are none other than Motomu Toriyama and Eisuke Yokoyama of Final Fantasy fame.As pointed out by Ishaan in a recent blog post, an IGN-conducted E3 interview with the Square Enix big wigs revealed some interesting plans for future games. While the most part of the sit down focused on their upcoming Ivalice Alliance installment, Final Fantasy: Revenant Wings, they touched on certain E3-related developments. In response to a question on incorporating the DS's Wi-Fi and microphone features to future titles, Toriyama also expressed interest in the whole concept of Wii Fit. Here's what happened immediately afterward: Is there going to be a Final Fantasy-themed fitness game? This might actually be interesting. An RPG - a Square Enix RPG, at that - using the Wii Balance Board? Although how using your weight and balance to scroll through menus and submenus in a Final Fantasy game totally baffles us, maybe a more loose definition of RPG could be used here. The same kind of sense that Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales was an "RPG." Maybe they're planning a spin-off title that's part-RPG part-minigames, complete with snowboarding (FFVII, anyone?) and Chocobo Racing thrown into the mix? What's your take on it though? If I'd hazard a guess (or maybe I'm just wishful thinking here!), it's a Final Fantasy: Blitzball Wii using a Wiimote+Nunchuk+BalanceBoard combo framework! |
