The Wii might be in unfamiliar territory, facing decline for the first
time and all, but that doesn't mean that the console is down for the
count. A survey from the gifting service, Lottay, reveals that there is
twice more demand for the Wii than both its rival consoles combined.
The DS, too, is making its own presence felt, pulling a certain blue
hedgehog into its lineup. There's more where that came from, so let's
get the rundown going. |

Let me start by clarifying that this is in no way a Nintendo marketing attempt for the New Super Mario Bros. Wii
coming out on November 15th (WTF if this is). This happened for real. Two guys
dressed up as Mario and Luigi (presumably for Halloween), plus one
other suspect, are now wanted by the police for assault and robbery on a
poor cabbie. |

20 years after Nintendo launched the Game Boy, the immensely popular
portable gaming device has now been inducted into the National Toy Hall
of Fame, joining the ranks of an elite list of legendary playthings. An
honor well-deserved. Seeking to continue their hardware success,
Nintendo has had another busy week, topped off with updates from three
of their biggest execs. |

Shigeru Miyamoto himself has said it - they'll be moving along with the
progress of technology and he wants to see games with better graphics.
Couple that with the rumor that a graphically-superior Nintendo DS is
on its way, then perhaps Nintendo has been busying itself with
preparing new hardware. For now, they're working on existing hardware,
turning white controllers black, and enlisting balance boards in the
fight against terrorism. |

Nintendo itself may have gone a little quiet this week, but the game
publishers and homebrew devs certainly held the Nintendo blog up
considerably. With news for ten different games and eight updates for
some quality homebrew, we've had ourselves quite a week. Keep up to
speed on all the Nintendo goings-on and catch the recap in this week's
edition of the Nintendo Weekend Warrior. |

This week's recap features a wide variety of news - from a TV spot,
self-mutilation, pastries, and even sandwich bags trying to pass off as
DSi accessories. While it's not the most gaming-dense rundown we've
had, it certainly makes up for it with some amusement. Read on for the Nintendo
Weekend Warrior. |

Nothing like cakes to make a celebration sweeter. And nothing like Mario cakes to make the Italian woo-hoos even sweeter. At the Tesco store in the UK, Super Mario Bros. Celebration cakes are now available, and shaped like a Nintendo DS just for kicks. Flavors and details after the jump. |
