Nintendo's still not giving in to the lures of a price drop, and really, why should they? They have the two bestselling consoles in this generation, both home and handheld. If you think about it, they can afford to keep the Wii at its price point. The good thing though is that this week, they've started making a few concessions. Well one, really. It sure must make a whole lot of things easier if developers can just automatically convert game codes from one platform to another, right? If this is the picture we're looking at, then we should go ahead and talk to Square Enix about it. After all, they're doing it already. Their first sample: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time (Wii and DS).

With GamesCom out of the way, there's still another big gaming event on the calendar: the Tokyo Game Show. For this year's TGS, Sega will be showing off a pretty balanced lineup that includes handheld sequel Valkyria Chronicles 2, the PS3 and Xbox 360 RPG End of Eternity, and PS3 exclusive Yakuza 4.

Another major gaming event coming up - the Tokyo Game Show is prepping to get its game on this year. Publishers are starting to whip out their lineups for the said event, and today's lineup comes from Square Enix. To No surprise at all, they'll be taking a very FF-clad lineup to TGS 2009.

GamesCom sure did not disappoint this week, although it did color our front page purple for the most part. No doubt about it, Sony ruled the spotlight this past week, and there's even no point saying otherwise. Now that GRIN Studios has officially turned their shop's sign to CLOSE, rumors are cropping up that one of their shelved titles was an action title based in the Final Fantasy world... Say what?

It  makes one wonder how a smash hit like Dragon Quest IX is not made available worldwide. In Japan, where it was released in last month, the Square Enix RPG for the DS has already sold well over 3.5 million, earning 2 million sales on its launch week alone. So, when's it coming over to our shores? Yoichi Wada, CEO of Squeenix, has the answer after the jump.

Square Enix's upcoming Kingdom Hearts game for the Nintendo DS handheld has finally been given a launch date in Europe and other PAL territories. Gamers there will be able to grab a copy of the game early this October. Details after the jump.

Wow, that was fast. It was a month ago when we got our first teasing bits from Square Enix about Final Fantasy Gaiden: The Four Warriors of Light, and already we have a release date, for the Japanese, at least. I was thinking along the lines of getting bombarded with mini teasers and screens here and there, especially considering that this one carries the Final Fantasy name.
