Square Enix is reportedly taking legal action against a lone French retailer for allegedly selling pirated Square merchandise. la société SAKURA, the retail store, operates in Paris and online, specializing in Anime/Manga/Japanese gaming merch.

Wow, there are lots of new game announcements (leaks?) in this week's crop of Japanese gaming mags. We've seen God Eater and Minna no Sukkiri -- both for the PSP. Now here's one for the DS: a new Final Fantasy game laid bare in the new Weekly Shonen Jump issue. Yes, this is the new game that Square Enix has been teasing us about for the past few days. After our initial report last week, the Square Enix teaser page has gotten clearer since we last saw it. It got updated with a dragon the following day, and now a boy can be seen riding the flying beast. Check it out.

Another week full of lawsuits. Poor, beleaguered company Midway came under fire once again, and this time it was from a very unlikely direction: the guy behind the Mortal Kombat movies is suing them in order to "protect his IP rights", which is a better way of saying that he wants to keep milking the MK franchise for as long as possible. Square Enix also got served with a class-action lawsuit for "deceiving" Final Fantasy XI patrons regarding fees. Not everything was bad, though. Square Enix isn't the only one with a new teaser site. Capcom Japan has also put one up, so for this week we get to wrack our brains about two different upcoming games. No countdown for the Capcom site, though, but there is a number.

It's teaser site countdown time again, this time Square Enix.com Japan is counting the hours until they reveal more info about their new game. The page features a plain sketch of a simple landscape with only a big number four providing the only solid clue as to what it'll be.

Since Square Enix's official acquisition of Eidos back in May, there've been lots of hoping and speculating surrounding the possibility of the two publishers crossing-over IPs. Here's your answer - in an interview with Gamasutra, the CEOs of both companies reveal: "It's possible."

Remember that Blood of Bahamut Japanese story and gameplay trailer last month?
