Hope your Japanese is up to scratch, though. But if you can actually read Shounen Jump, then that's not gonna be a problem. Nintendo has unleashed the official website for Jump Ultimate Superstars, a.k.a. anime SSB (also a.k.a. we don't need MUGEN for this!). Here you can poke around a bit and read the profiles of your favorite Jump characters from 40 different titles (but why does the site say "41"?), but note all those unfilled question marks as of now. We got a lot more to learn about the wide cast of support (and maybe even unannounced playable?) characters from our favorite anime titles. Catch the Japanese ad for Jump Ultimate, or get together with your friends and play "Who can ID the most Shounen Jump characters in the website's title page..." Okay, language barriers can be so limiting. So's one other factoid: Jump Ultimate Superstars is currently slated for a November 23 launch in Japan. No current plans of a US release. Sigh. Anyways, this writer's bets are on Kenshin kicking everyone else's behinds. Yes, including Son Goku's. (Off-topic: It would be interesting to MUGEN a matchup between Himura and Sephiroth, though...) |

Did they say 40 titles!? Did they say 300 characters? If Jump is definitely drawing all their characters together in this ultimate Jump showdown, then this is the game to get for all Jump fans! I honestly don’t know where to start counting with the titles, but from the looks of the previews in Famitsu, fans of the comic magazine Shounen Jump should get ready for some great fanfare service. The game is now formally called as the Jump Ultimate Superstars. It contains the characters already playable during the Jump Superstars, however more lackeys, endless puns, and kickass moves are available in this game. From the popular titles of old like Dragon Ball Z, KochiKame and Rurouni Kenshin, it also features popular titles of today such as Bleach and Eyeshield 21. Obscure series that run in Jump, such as Majin Tantei Neuro, Bo-bobobo, and Busou Renkin will also be shown in the game.
All series that are currently running on Jump are featured here, so you’re definitely not missing out on some of your favorite characters. Even more classic games such as Saint Seiya and Captain Tsubasa will be here as well. We do wonder if archaic Jump titles such as Barefoot Gen will also come out. More about Jump Ultimate Superstars after the jump! |

- 40 Shounen Jump series represented - 300 different characters represented For those wondering, the original Jump Superstars had no WiFi support, and only got 13 series from Shounen Jump and 150 different characters. Obviously, not every character is playable. However, expect many of your favourites to be making an appearance. The first Jump Superstars was a very addicting game that was only brought down by how hard it was to find an opponent to play in the stellar multiplayer mode. With WiFi play, that shouldn't be a problem anymore! |

Nothing in this world is free. This is the lesson that you learn once you begin your Gintama adventure! Based on a highly popular series from Shounen Jump, you will begin your game as a part of Yorozuya, the freelance agency of Gintama's hero, Gintoki. The story of Gintama involves the debt-ridden Gintoki who takes odd jobs in order to pay his lodgings. In due time, he managed to find other debt-ridden fellows, and together they try to make some cash. The theme of the anime and comic is very humorous, in a slapstick and silly way. It is one of the notoriously funny titles that is running in Shounen Jump, however it is still untapped by the foreign fans as most of them prefer titles like Bleach and Naruto. In the game, you can choose either one of the characters of Gintama and you can head out into town looking for things that you can do to make a living. As you walk around town, you can ask people on what you can do for them, and in turn they could or could not give you some odd jobs. And when the game says odd jobs, they mean odd. Your job can go as far as capturing someone's cat, or weeding your neighbor's garden. In the game, make sure you don't run in with the law, else the Shinsengumi will run after you! This is a game packed with mini-games with the main objective of getting you out of your debt-ridden life. The game is fun and brainless and consists of nothing but fun little mini-games and stories much like the anime and the comic. The game will be sold in Japan sometime summer.

Shounen Jump basically knows how to keep all the boys happy by turning their top titles into animes and games. And now, almost 5 years since it has first started, Shounen Jump gives us another Naruto Game. Naruto RPG3 - Reijuu vs. Konoha Shoutai is the third of Naruto's RPG titles in the Nintendo DS. Translated as "The Sacred Beasts vs. The Konoha Team" this RPG will let you, as Naruto, explore the various kingdoms to search for these Sacred Beasts.
You will be playing along with other Konoha Ninjas popularized by the anime. However unlike the anime, this will not follow the story line of Naruto in the manga or in the anime, instead it will have an original story of its own. It will even have its own original character named Nazuna whom you will be helping for this mission.
The game will also utilize Nintendo DS' wireless connection. This allows you to call in a friend who also has the same game to go through the same mission as you. At last, your dream of forming your own Konoha team comes true with this function. The game pretty much give you an opportunity to be a Konoha Ninja like Naruto. Now, if you end up buying or making your own Konoha regulation uniform for you to wear while you play the game, that's taking the game play a little further. The game promises to be as fun as the series, as to how it can keep you hooked on to the fracnhise, that's all up to you. |
