We've got an exceptionally news-filled week for issue #65 of the QuickJump QuickPeek, thanks in part (a whole lot) to the recently-concluded GDC that happened in San Francisco. There were a lot of announcements and revelations, both inspiring and jaw-dropping alike. Yep, it's looking like it's gonna be yet another good year for gaming.

The figurative gauntlet was thrown at Apple's recent Let's Rock event in San Francisco. According to Steve Jobs, the iPod Touch is "the best portable device for playing games". That's a grand statement right there, but then again, if you're selling something you wouldn't be touting it as the second-, third-, or whatever-best gaming device, now would you?

If you live near or in San Francisco and have some free time on your hands tonight, you may want to head over to San Francisco's Apple Store to watch an hour-long demo of the full game of Spore (PC, Nintendo Wii, DS, Mac, and Mobile), as hosted by Will Wright. The full details after the jump!

Konami Digital Entertainment, or rather its division in America, rocked San Francisco with their blow-by-blow game lineup revelation kicking off from 2008 onwards. Of course, there were the all-time favorites: Metal Gear Solid, Castlevania, Dance Dance Revolution, and Silent Hill. However, these weren't all the games that the publisher highlighted at the event. Fresh from acquiring assets to dip themselves into the casual gaming market, "creative hub" publisher THQ will now set out to raise the curtains off their much broader lineup of games for fiscal year 2009. And aside from tending some exclusive titles for the Nintendo Wii, THQ has a couple of mainstream franchises piled up for a comeback. If you feel disappointed about the cancellation of last year's Game Developers Conference in Korea, here's a little bit of news that will make you smile.

If your bet during last year's Game Developers Choice Awards (GDCA) wasn't able to nab first place, then perhaps you'll have better luck this year as the Game Developers Conference has opened up the nominations for the 2008 GDCA event to be held this coming February 20.
