Electronic Gaming Monthly, or EGM, is known for its rumors bin - and its biting and mostly unforgiving reviews. We found a thread at NeoGAF detailing the important parts of EGM's September issue. We'll skip the abysmal scores of Lair and Blue Dragon, instead, we'll give you the Metroid Prime 3: Corruption details and the issue in question's rumors bin. The lucky guys at EGM were able to preview Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. The verdict? They pointed out four things in particular. More action since there is more shooting, though exploration is still a big part of the game. Also, they mentioned a "lock-on free shooting" feature. Second point is the Wii controls, they indicated that it adds to the game's experience. Third, they mentioned that the ship plays a major role in the game as players can use it as a mobile save point. Also, there were hints of aerial combat on the ship's options as well. Lastly, it was pointed out that "no Samus talking". Next up is the rumors bin. Six were mentioned for the issue, most notable perhaps is the one about the maker of Jeanne d'Arc and Dragon Quest VIII - Level 5 is going to announce four new RPGs at the coming Tokyo Game Show (TGS). It was also said that Square Enix will start remaking another RPG franchise, Dragon Quest. Reportedly, it will be starting with Dragon Quest 4 for the DS. EGM also ventured to speculate about the failure rates of Xbox 360s; apparently, Microsoft is "funneling all the best 360 parts to the elite model". They also took a shot at Electronics Arts' Def Jam, saying that the next one in the franchise will be better than Icon. Another interesting piece of info is the one about IO Interactive, devs of Kane and Lynch. According to the report, IO will be making - or is already making - a kids' game. Lastly, they reported that the next James Bond video game will be using Call of Duty 4's game engine. What do you think? For now, we'll put all of these into rumors bin until they are given official confirmation. |

It's about time video game title Metroid Prime Pinball hits the European continent. The game has been available in North America for around two years already and it is only now that developer Fuse Games and Nintendo decided to ship the game overseas.Basically, the title is a pinball game set in the sci-fi Metroid universe. So expect every table here to be Metroid Prime-themed; and players will be controlling Samus Aran in her morphed ball form. The game will have numerous flippers and will allow players to tilt tables and bend the rules a bit. The game itself comes with a free Rumble Pak that will vibrate with every bump and explosion. Needless to say, Metroid Prime Pinball offers a single player mode, but more importantly, it also allows up to seven others playing simultaneously using Nintendo DS's wireless capability in Wireless Mission mode. The Multi Mission mode, on the other hand, invites players to unlock our bonus tables based on worlds from the franchise. Metroid Prime Pinball will be available in Europe on June 22 for 40 Euros or roughly around US$ 54. |

Here we go again with videogame movie adaptations. MSNBC has a poll about the top five videogames that should be ported to the silver screen. Metroid and Prince of Persia took top spots. Various reactions could be gotten from those titles alone. Prince of Persia has been announced to be set for a Summer 2008 release via Jerry Bruckheimer. But Metroid? First questions that come to mind would be: Is it going to be a live action movie or would it be better off as CGI? If it's a live action movie, who'd play Samus Aran? We've seen countless movie adaptations that simply fell flat both on the box office and in the eyes of the videogame fans. And we're sure that fellow gamers haven't forgotten BloodRayne, Doom, Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil, and the list just go on and on. There are a number of promising upcoming movie adaptations like Gears of War, Metal Gear Solid, and even a World of Warcraft movie. Let's hope they don't disappoint. What games do you think deserve a movie adaptation? |

Yes! More retro-goodness! In any case, the NES units which you see in the images that we have here are all lovingly hand-painted works of art. All of which are also eagerly waiting to get sold at eBay for around US$ 125 each (well, except for the one with Samus painted on it which has already sold for the Buy It Now price of US$ 175). According to the seller: The System Has been Custom Hand Painted With Acrylic Paints and then Sprayed down with 3 to 4 Coats of Clear Acrylic Sealer to protect your Painting from being Scratched or Ruined. It also Gives your Painted Nintendo a Wicked Awesome Shine to it that really does the artwork Justice. Over 10 Hours of Painting Went into this Nintendo! This Hand Painted Nintendo's is 1 of a Kind. No One on Ebay is Doing anything like this and The Painted Nintendo Is in Absolute Center Piece To your Video Gaming Collection. So, any takers for Megaman, Kid Icarus and Mario? |

Based on the Metroid Prime series, First 4 Figures has come up with concept art for its future Samus figurines. They've now released the prototypes of their Samus Aran figurines in two variations: the Varia Suit (above) and the Gravity Suit (below). Both are made with high-quality poly-stone, carefully hand painted with metallic paint, and will be available during the fourth quarter of this year. Hey, better be quick because the Gravity Suit is just limited to a production run of 250 pieces. Each figurine costs $99.99 and has a 11 in base, plus it comes with a card of authenticity. Cool, huh? These are just the first two in First 4 Figures' suit series, which would eventually include the Light Suit, Dark Suit, and Phazon Suit. So, in case they come out with other new suits (or even figures of other characters), watch this space for updates! |

Nintendo of Australia held its "Ultimate Bounty Hunter" tournament to find some of the best Metroid Prime Hunters players in the country. Eight contestants gathered in the Half Pipe room in Hoyts Melbourne Central for the chance to win $1000 and the title of "Ultimate Bounty Hunter." Many spectators joined them and took part in fun Metroid-themed SSBM free-for-alls, like playing Samus dittos on Brinstar! After that was over, they watched the finalists go at it in the semi-finals down to the final match. After the three Sylux and one Trace users went at it, a winner emerged. Congratulations to Jeff Hawthorne aka Juice Boy on his victory. Hopefully, you'll be picking up Metroid Prime 3: Corruption with some of that money! |

Master Chief vs Samus Aran Why the fight? They're both genetically altered superhu[wo]man soldiers possessed of powerful suits of battle armor to help bring on the pain. Someone's got to give, come on in and find out who. Follow the full match after the jump! |

Gary Linscott has been busy fixing some pesky bugs buzzing around the Snezzi DS, the DS port of the Snezziboy SNES emulator. These quick bug fixes will make the program run even smoother, thanks to your feedback, and of course to Gary's persistence. Snezzi DS comes in two versions, the sound version and the no-sound version. Each version has different compatibility. To use the program, run "snezzi.exe snesrom.sfc" and the flash the generated file to your flashcard.Snezzi DS v0.24 and v0.24a (sound version) have been released to reflect the following changes:

First 4 Figures

For all you Metroid Prime: Hunters fans out there,
this figure is for you! First 4 Figures has released the first image of an upcoming Hunters figure, which is Kanden. Kanden is famous for his deadly volt driver
weapon, and his sting larva alternative form. He is considered by many as
their last choice in battle, but many tend to argue otherwise. I'm more of a
Samus guy myself, always sticking to the classic that I know best. This
figure's design is not final as depicted by the picture and is awaiting Nintendo's
approval on the color of the figure. First 4 Figures plans to release more
figures from the series (Samus, Sylux, Noxus, Spire, Weavel, Trace), and even include limited editions of each figure.
There has been no word on alternative forms for the figures and do not seem to be the "action" figures that we all grew up with, but rather a collectible figure. The pricing for this, or the other figures, has not yet been announced. Although, back in May the projected price for this product was 85-120$ for the standard models and 200$ for the high-end models (thanks for this info, Shinobe!). |
