Seems Michael Pachter wasn't off the mark when he predicted that the
Xbox 360 would outsell the PlayStation 3 in October. NPD has revealed
the hardware sales figures for last month and, true enough, the
Microsoft console sold more units than Sony's multimedia monster. Be that as it may, both consoles still paled in comparison to the Nintendo Wii's sales. Sales figures for both software and hardware after the jump. |

Market researcher, the NPD Group, found that at least half of the owners of portable entertainment devices use their gadgets pretty much the same, if not more than they did 3 months ago. In other words, some people love their portable playthings more today than yesterday. |

Michael Pachter has returned with his crystal ball to give us a glimpse... of the past! Dun dun dunnnnn.Pachter has given us his predictions for the month of October ahead of the official numbers, saying that the Wii will still dominate. Obvious enough, but what's this? He also believes that the Xbox 360 outsold the PlayStation 3. More after the link. |

Ahead of the NPD data once again is everyone's favorite video game analyst, Michael Pachter. As usual, Pachter pegs the Wii to be the clear winner for last month, selling twice as much as the PlayStation 3. For now, he also predicts that the PS3 will sell more than the Xbox 360, though he may change his tune next month when the 360's price cut will start to show in sales. |

A lot of predictions have been thrown our way as to how this leg of the console race will end. But this one isn't from industry analysts, this time. Rather, it's from one that was formerly in the know as a Sony top executive. For him, we'll know who wins the race by 2011, and it's gonna be a tie. |
