"Nibris is alive and well," according to the e-mail. With that, Sadness is apparently still in development and slated for release in 2009. The scrolling shooter Raid Over The River (ROTD) for the Nintendo DS is also in the works, and it's expected to hit the shelves come Q3 2008. Another DS title, the bloob-filled adventure Double Bloob, is scheduled for Q2 2008. We'll wait for confirmation regarding this piece of news (whether good or bad). Until then, we'll put the said release dates under rumor. Stay tuned. |

Not much is known about NIBRIS' Children of the Night for the DS. After checking out the concept art, we can undoubtedly confirm that this will not be a game for kids. If we were to judge this game based on what the developers have done with Sadness on the Wii, it will have a very engaging storyline, as well as gratuitous amounts of disturbing scenes. The devs have let slip that the main character will only be armed with whatever they can scrounge up from their environment. In addition to this, it has been announced that this DS-exclusive will be played from a 3rd person perspective. No definite release date has been given for Children of the Night. After all, you can't rush horror. You have to let it fester and build until your victims grow crazy... Before you go, be sure to check out the artwork. It's a scream. |

This next one is rather short but the implications are quite sweet. We just learned that Japanese video game development studio Mitchell Corporation will be coming up with a Wii game this year as well as two new DS titles.Best known for the Buster Bros. series of games, Mitchell Corporation is one of the older development studio that still exists today. It was founded back in 1960 and started making games for arcades; its later titles appeared on Nintendo DS and PlayStation 1 (PSOne) Mitchell even made a title on Nuon - a technology that allows DVD players be compatible with 3D video games. Anyway, since their stint on the DS with Magnetica and Polarium, nothing was heard about Mitchell Corporation. While we're hoping that the new titles would involve Buster Bros., we're not leaning towards it because Nibris is already making a new version known as Double Pang. |

There's a new bubble-popping game in town, and that's Nibris' Double Bloob. While we haven't heard much about the game as of yet, Cubed3 (C3) managed to get new info on the game, as well as a bunch of new material that blob-popping game maniacs will probably love. According to C3's article, special effects akin to those in LocoRoco will be a part of the game. Not much information was explained about that, but they did mention that you could actually change the nature of levels just by pressing L and R at the same time during specific portions of gameplay, so that should be a hoot. More importantly, there's a media blowout for you guys to enjoy. In addition to a YouTube video showing off the game, there's also three potential tracks that'll be part of the game's soundtrack and a ton of screenshots showing off the gameplay. In any case, have some fun, see if you like Nibris' DS creation, and look out for the game when it comes out later in the year. Nibris has announced yet another title they're working on for Nintendo. It isn't a shooter though, so much as it is a blob smasher.Called Double Bloob, the game is reminiscent of Capcom's Buster Bros. title. You're tasked with destroying all the bloobs in your way as you attempt to rescue your friend from the clutches of The Great Nasty Bloob. To do that, you'll be using a harpoon to blow the bloobs into smaller pieces until you eradicate each one completely across 100 levels. The game gives you numerous powerups, including a freezing powerup that stops the enemies from dropping off the top of the screen for a few seconds and a shield that gives you temporary invincibility. Of course, that doesn't stop the enemies from getting stronger too, with some blobs taking more hits to break or a blob type that combines to make a giant blob. Nibris is perhaps most known for their ongoing development Raid Over the River for the DS and Sadness for the Wii. Expect Double Bloob to head to Nintendo's little handheld in the second quarter of this year. |

It has been quite a while since we heard something about Nibris and its highly anticipated projects for Nintendo. In case you guys have been detached from our little pixelated gaming universe, the said developer team is currently working hard to produce Raid Over the River for DS and Sadness for next-gen console Wii. While this post is reeking with "Sadness", the DS title is not to be ignored. After all, it was just recently when Nibris game designer and art director Marek Okron mentioned that they have new ideas to introduce to the community, which would be told via a story mode strictly related to onscreen actions. Hmm... On the other hand, Sadness feels exactly like that, a gothic horror game that is completely in black and white. Despite the promising features, news and information regarding the titles remain elusive. At any rate, this is what the Nibris representative had to say about the matter:Hi! First of all,we are authorized Nintendo developers now. I am sorry that we don't show any news for a while, but this is our PR manager decision. I hope that we show you our work before the end of the year. Nibris and Frontline are working hard to make Sadness a great game. Well, what more can we say? It was their intention to keep news scarce. At the very least, it's a valid marketing strategy - releasing enough details to keep the talks alive but not too much, so as not to divulge everything and spoil the plot. However, they did mention the phrase "before the end of the year." That means we should be receiving more details about it any moment now, and don't worry, we'll tell you everything the moment we got hold of the info. |

The Nintendo Wii is being packaged with a squeaky clean image, in the sense that it's family-friendly and its games would cater to the wants of every member. But video gaming, just like real life, isn't all bright and sunshiny or nice and sweet - and that's where the game Sadness enters the picture.
Too bad that its developer, Nibris, has not been divulging more details about it. But to compensate for the lack of info to this hauntingly mysterious title for the Wii, the Polish game developer opened up about another game that they're brewing for the Nintendo DS and the Wii. The new game they're developing is called Double Pang. From the title itself, you may already have an idea that this is not as dark and disturbing as Sadness. What is it all about? Well, the game is actually a new version of Pang (or Buster Bros. in the U.S.A), it is a one or two player arcade game which is the brainchild of Mitchell Corporations. It first saw the light of mass production in 1989 and was produced for various home systems such as ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, Atari ST among many others. Nibris is planning on unveiling the DS version on April 2007, while the Wii version is planned to come out on September. And basing from our last report, this game would be released earlier than Sadness (Q4 2007 or Q1 2008) and Raid Over the River (Wii release Q3 2008, DS release Q2-Q3 2007). Let's hope that Nibris keeps their word this time around and for goodness sake, talk about how Sadness is shaping up! |

You might have heard of the dev team, Nibris. Yep, they're the ones responsible for the interesting horror game for the Wii, Sadness, as well as Raid Over the River, an upcoming game for both Wii and DS. Well, Cubed recently received an email from the dev team itself, and they got the list of the games slated for release next year. Want to take a look? Here they are:
But that's okay. Hopefully the release dates for these games will zoom past by us really soon, so we can play them already. For more updates and info, just stay tuned here at QJ. |

Nibris, the Polish game developer, could be compared to an indie rock band in the sense that it's just one of a handful of game developers who chose to not take the mainstream road and independently create games for Nintendo. Independent and enigmatic are the two things that best describe the company, as it takes a while for them to update us with their projects- the black and white, gothic horror game Sadness and the shooter game Raid Over the River. Now, Nibris game designer and art director Marek Okron granted an interview with Cubed3 and talked about Raid Over the River. It's just too bad that he didn't kill two birds with one stone as he didn't give an update about the going-ons with Sadness. He mentions that Nibris aims to create the best shooter ever with Raid and their ticket to that could be the fact that they have new ideas to introduce to the community which would be told via a story mode strictly related to onscreen actions. Aside from that, he hopes to win them over with the game's intuitive controls, new boss fight approaches, and your ships special abilities which isn't just fire power. The team is also shying away from the shooter-game stigma - wherein most games falling in this category tends to fall short in the plot department. He mentions that "story mode at "easy" level will be a challenging, yet not frustrating, experience. There will be a lot of action, a few plot twists and spectacular air battles - for everyone who wants to play it." He also realizes the fact that there are some gamers who don't really give a rat's behind about the story, so the game also has an arcade mode which is all about the kills, points and scraping enemy bullets. When asked about influences to create the game, Okron mentioned the Don Pachi series which according to him is "difficult but fun to play." Their unit designs were influenced by historic designs like German airplanes designs from the era of World War II. He also expressed Nibris' desire to work with Pikmin because of "loads of creativity." Something to look forward to? Well, dreaming is still free, so that's all we could do for now. |

The game is not yet due out on the first half of 2007, but there has been a lot of buzz surrounding Nibris' vertical shooter for the Nintendo DS called Raid Over the River. There was the issue on whether it should be a single or dual screen, it was even put to a vote over at Gamespot forums to give Nibris the feedback and information it needs to arrive at a decision. The trailer will pretty much give us an idea on which way the developers are going. As game designer Marek Okoń was previously quoted as saying, "this is a title that is going to change the current image of a vertical shooter as a meaningless, arcade game which only tests the speed of player’s fingers." Guess we couldn't express anything less from the same people behind the revolutionary title, Sadness, for the Wii. Download: [Raid Over the River Trailer] |
