Texting while driving - Image 1While common sense would tell you to leave your PSP be while you're doing 80 across the highway, the senate has gotten up to take extra steps to make sure that you won't make that potentially fatal mistake. A new bill has just been passed, and it will soon be illegal in New York state to text, browse the net, or play video games while driving.

warning labelAt this rate, if all these bills being proposed get written into actual law, video game box art would be obsolete. In their place, it's just one big white label on the cover: warning warning danger warning! Following last week's proposal of having a huge list of warnings on game boxes (sodomy, rape, bestiality, incest, murder, etc.), a new bill now wants a warning label linking photosensitivity epilepsy and video games.

WARNINGRemember when assemblyman Keith L.T. Wright proposed to have kids protected from racist games and its ilk? And before that, representative Joe Baca introduced another bill which wanted those obtrusive warning labels on video game boxes. Take those two bills and up the ante with a whole list of mature content warnings, plus a US$ 1000 fine for violators. Thus, you get this new one. Execute order 66 A2837!

ManhuntOh please. Not another one. This following yesterday's news of having warning labels on game boxes? Oy vey... Apparently, a new bill is going around the New York Assembly. This one was introduced by one Kieth L.T. Wright, and he aims to have even more restrictions in the selling of video games. On top of the already existing ESRB ratings, the new bill would have minors shielded from racism, cursing, and other forms of insult in video games.

No to DLC taxes - Image 1What's this? More taxes?!? More importantly, in downloadable content?!? Come. On. Apparently, it's gonna suck to be a New Yorker because of this. Included in the state's proposed budget is the suggestion that DLC, in both the iPod and video games, be taxed.

Midway - Image 1It looks like nothing is going right for Midway these days. The company has just revealed that its stocks are facing delisting from the New York Stock Exchange. This is just the latest in Midway's ongoing financial soap opera. Layoffs, huge losses, and the resignations of some of its top execs were only a few of the bad news that has plagued Midway these past few months.
