Nintendo Weekend Warrior - Image 1After four years of staying on top, it's the first time for the Wii to experience a sales decline. Satoru Iwata owns up to the issue, but remains optimistic about Nintendo bouncing back into the game. Much of that is apparent as early as now - Nintendo is steadily adding more games into WiiWare and Virtual Console, grabbing more big Wiixclusives, unleashing the Black Wii, and even introduces a new king-sized DSi.

Boulder Dash-Rocks! - Image 1 Boulder Dash-Rocks! - Image 2

Last year, 10tacle studios announced that they would be releasing Boulder Dash for the PSP and DS. For the guys unfamiliar with the game, Boulder Dash was originally created in the 80s for the Apple II, MSX, ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, and Atari 400/800 home computers.

The game puts players behind the controls of Rockford, whose job is to dig through caves collecting gems and diamonds while avoiding hostile creatures and falling rocks. Fast forward to today, we we have received new details for this upcoming game, which has been renamed Boulder Dash-Rocks!:
  • Completely revamped in-game graphics
  • Release date moved to the fourth quarter 2007.
  • The game will feature tools to help the players on their diamond-collecting, such as bombs and laser guns - the latter can be loaded with different types of ammo.
  • Each laser ammo has a different characteristic: some have the ability to freeze enemies, while others pull objects towards the player.
  • Five game modes: Single-player, Multi-player, and three other TBA game modes.
  • Unique game modes for the PSP and DS (TBA).
Just keep posted as 10tacle reveals more details on this upcoming game in the near future

PenkoDS - Image 1Donning one of the weirdest names this writer has personally encountered, My Ketchup Is Dead has just updated his MSX homebrew emu for the DS, PenkoDS.

If the emulation speed in the previous version was only up to 75%, you'll be glad to know that My Ketchup Is Dead focused on the emulation speed in this version and thereby bumping up the speed to...*drumroll*...100%!!! Yippee-yay! So anyway, here's some of the other stuff you can look forward to in this release:
  • Fixed bugs (management of transparency in mode 2, redundancy of files in the selector, etc.)
  • I mainly worked on the speed of emulation. The 100% are atteinds in many plays.
  • The support of DLDI should be better.
  • Improved sounds.
For any bugs/glitches encountered, make sure you let My Ketchup Is Dead know via the comments section, alrighty? Enjoy(ness...)!

PenkoDS - Image 1Grafting from Marat Fayzullin's homebrew emulator, My Ketchup Is Dead recently released a new MSX emulator for the DS. PenkoDS v0.1a is currently on its early stages, and My Ketchup Is Dead wants some feedback to improve it. Currently, here are its features:
  • A resize mode to manage the various resolutions of the MSX.
  • Support DLDI
  • Support of the roms and the discs
  • Management of the sound (with the same problems as under CrocoDS)
One of the biggest problems right now is the impossibility of rebooting the system once the MSX disc is "inserted". Aside from that, roms are still workable. As with other emulators, just copy the rom file onto your flashcard and run it directly after patching.
