Now don't go thinking this is another one of those depressing economic news - it's not. It's just your average depressing video game convention news, like E3. A press release just went out announcing that this year's Leipzig Games Convention has been canceled, but they will be holding a new event in its place called Games Convention Online.

The Leipzig Games Convention organizers have decided, and they find Sony's Resistance: Retribution for the PSP as the best presented game in this year's event. Who else took bacons home? Check out the list after the jump.

"Ready for GAME time!" Tokyo Game Show 2008's theme is definitely one that can get your heart pumping. I know something else that might get your heart pumping: the full list of exhibitors to be present in this year's gaming event at Tokyo. Knowing the exhibitors at TGS 2008 might give a hint as to what games we can probably expect on the show floor (and knowing what games can, in turn, give us a hint as to what types of boothbabe cosplays we might expect to see too). This year's Games Convention at Leipzig was a sure fire success. And though some of you might not think that the same could be said about E3, GC 2009 has already been scheduled. Via press release, we find out that this year's event has set records above and beyond what GC 2007 had, and reception from the masses has definitely shown a good sign that the video games industry is booming more than it used to.

And the games continue to pour at the Leipzig Games Convention 2008. Joining the fray is Daedalic Entertainment and their new titles that they will be presenting in their show booth. But if you're not in the event, no need to worry cos we're bringing the assets right to you.

Like a lot of people out there (and a lot of our readers have expressed), I was let down with Nintendo's press conference in E3 with their lack of attention to the hardcore community. It seems that dropping out of trade shows is in vogue right now with many gaming publishers dropping out of the ESA. Nintendo is also following suit, but instead of ditching ESA and E3, Nintendo decided to withdraw from this year's Leipzig Games Convention. It's not because of criticism, however.
