Assassin's Creed 2: Discovery - Image 1I don't know why Ubisoft chose to go with a slow trickle approach instead of a one-time splash, but Ezio is creeping onto almost every major gaming console, both home and handheld. Today, they announced that their boy Ezio is also heading to the Nintendo DS by way of Assassin's Creed 2: Discovery from developer Griptonite Games.

QuickJump QuickPeek - Image 1Exciting past couple of weeks, eh? The price cuts mad rush continued on this week with Microsoft joining in on the bandwagon. Meanwhile, Nintendo's sitting prettily and quietly, choosing the status quo, because, hey, they're on top in the status quo. Wouldn't want to change a thing about that now, would you? It's also one event after the another, from E3 to GamesCom to upcoming PAX and TGS. If this does not revive interest in the industry, I don't know what will. This latter half of the calendar year is just bursting at the seams, and we've got a portion of all that action here in this nice little bundle for you stamped as QuickPeek 87.

QJ QuickPeek - Image 1GamesCom sure did not disappoint this week, although it did color our front page purple for the most part. No doubt about it, Sony ruled the spotlight this past week, and there's even no point saying otherwise. Fanboy or not, plain fact is that Sony was responsible for probably 80% of the gaming-related activity on the Internet this week. But not to worry, you bet you can find other big news in QJ for the 86th week of QuickJump QuickPeek! All across our blogs! Jump in and find out for yourself.

QuickJump QuickPeek - Image 1Time for that day of the week when you get all the biggest news and tidbits that came out the past weekend in QJ that you might have missed for one reason or another. There's a lot of GamesCom 2009 updates right here, nothing unusual about that given that the event opens next week. We also still have a healthy spate of rumors pertaining to the console price cuts, particularly because the NPD results are out, and it does look like it will take a mighty slash off the current prices to revitalize the scene. Not all would agree, however. Why don't you jump in and see for yourself what went down in your favorite blogs? We've got it all filled up to the brim for you.

Nintendo Weekend Warrior - Image 1With the success of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC and the kind of anticipation we're seeing for Modern Warfare 2, it looks like Activision wants to use the profitable name as they bring the glorious FPS into the Nintendo yard. How will Modern Warfare fare in the Wii and DS? Time will tell. It'll be an interesting subject once more things unfold, so read up and stay up to speed with the goings-on in the industry.

thumb - Image 1 Surprisingly, we've got quite some bare pickings from the industry this week. Guess what comes down must go up. If last week we've had software/hardware dilemmas in terms of quantity, this week, we've got them updates by the truckloads, and the Industry News section takes the backseat.

Quickpeek - Image 1Everyone sure had a lot to say this week, from analysts to company execs, all the way to the President, and even the regular commenting folks. Action-packed is the most apt word to describe the past seven days, I believe. A lot of controversies have been courted too, and quite frankly, the gaming scene did happily oblige for some. Don't just take my word for it. See all that you missed below. You'd want to catch up on this one definitely.

Dave Perry - Image 1Physical games media may be at the sunset of their lives, according to David Perry. Speaking at an opening keynote in UK for the 4th Annual Develop Conference in Brighton, the GaiKai founder expressed his belief that "It won't be long before 100 per cent of games are all online."
