With the Simpsons Game being released on every major console and handheld in this generation, it's only natural to worry if the game will be given justice once it's translated to the Nintendo DS. Craig Harris, producer of the game's DS version, gives the details. You'll be glad to know that the DS version of the Simpsons Game will indeed be getting the same amount of fun and creativity of the other consoles. Although it will follow the same storyline as the versions in the other platforms, the DS game will have its own "unique twists and changes" to make it a "unique experience." The DS version will also include its own audio lines (about one-fifths of the console version's) and the "equivalent of a TV episode's worth of FMV." That's pretty impressive for a DS game. The DS version will also support a multiplayer mode for games featuring Homer and Bart. Since the game is divided within the members of the family, there will be differences in controlling each of them, depending on their powers. Bart and Homer, for example, will not use the stylus so much while Marge, Lisa, and Pet Homer will. The Simpsons Game will be released for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, PlayStation Portable and, of course, the Nintendo DS on October 30. |

E For All

Producer Eric Dallaire of Electronic Arts' The Simpsons Game (Sony PS3, Microsoft Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, Sony PSP, Nintendo DS) sat down at E for All to show the upcoming game's iteration on the Nintendo DS. He talks about touching Homer in all places you can imagine, dressing Homer up, and other quirks exclusive to the DS that make The Simpsons Game attractive to both casual and hardcore gamers alike.
The Simpsons Game on the Nintendo handheld, just like its other versions, pokes fun at various video games. You can expect Nintendogs Simpsons style, and side-scrolling platforming action that will give New Super Mario Bros. a run for the money. The developers played the strengths of the Nintendo DS and created a game that utilizes the touch screen and other functions of the platform according to Dallaire. See some gameplay snippets of The Simpsons Game and Dallaire on why the game isn't just for Simpsons fans by watching the video below. |

What's the Big Deal with GameStop's deals this week? It's the Simpsons Game which will be available by the end of the month. The price cut for the Sony PlayStation 3's 80 GB console is also spotlighted this week, plus a couple of discounted games for the Xbox 360, the PS3, and the PC.This week's promo is a free Homerball when you reserve the Simpsons Game (PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PSP, DS). The Homerball is a little toy doll of Homer. If you recall, getting as fat and round as a watermelon is one of Homer's powers in the game. Also this week is MotorStorm, bundled with the 80 GB console. Discounts this week are WarTech: Senko No Ronde (US$ 9.99), Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom (US$ 19.99) and Vanguard: Saga of Heroes (US$ 49.99). The 20% trade-in credit for reserving Super Mario Galaxy is still in effect, and probably will be until the game is finally released next month on November 12. |

Those who can't wait to pick up a copy of Electronic Arts' The Simpsons Game (Xbox 360, Wii, PS2, PS3, PSP, DS) will be happy to know that a fact sheet for the game has just been released. It details the different features of the title as well as some of the things you wouldn't expect to encounter. The game stays true to The Simpsons series with various little additions that will please fans. Among them is the fact that the full cast of voice actors from the cartoons will be lending their talents to the characters in the video game. In addition to that, the game is said to offer a whole new story made by the TV shows' writers. Here's the full fact list of the game straight from the EA press' office:

Those who decide to pre-order Electronic Arts' The Simpsons Game (DS, PS3, PSP, Wii, Xbox 360) are in for a treat. They'll be receiving some swag including one of the four limited edition posters and if you're lucky, a Homerball figure. The four posters have the different designs showing off one of the different parodies present in the game. Each one will also have a cheat code on the back which players can use to unlock some of the content in the game. The press release gave word that it will be available from GameStop, Wal-Mart, Target, and Best Buy. The Homerball, which will be available at "participating retailers while supplies last" is based on Homer's (duh!) special power in the game. For those who haven't seen this move in action, he essentially turns into a giant ball which gives the him ability to break through walls and steamroll any enemies. Pre-orders will be available by September 19, so you might want to mark that on your calendar. If you want to get a Homerball. You might also want to place a few calls to your local game stores to see which ones carry the limited edition figurine. |

First off, if you hate spoilers, you have no business reading the succeeding paragraphs. Just back away from this one, read another QJ article and be completely happy playing this nice title. Skipping this one won't ruin your life, we assure you.
Still reading? Don't say we didn't warn you. If you haven't bought The Simpsons yet but are planning to, you'll either be real happy or real pissed with what you'll find out. This is your last chance to back off. Destructoid reports that EA gave them a spoiler of sorts regarding this title. It turns out that there's a Wolfenstein level hidden in the game which can be unlocked. For the uninitiated, Castle Wolfenstein was one of the fathers of FPS and is certainly an icon of modern gaming. Destructoid explains "in the Medal of Homer stage, Bart and Homie are hired to steal white flags from a town trying to surrender so that they can get firebombed. However, if you put your chores aside and transform into Bartman and fly across the channel you can snake around an abandoned warehouse and find the hidden area. Smash a few boxes out of your way and you'll find a door to Duffenstein, a replica of the great old-school FPS Castle Wolfenstein." So there you have it. If you feel like revisiting the old school, The Simpsons will give you a chance to get some nostalgic treats. Otherwise, just enjoy the game and the nice movie, too. The Simpsons is available on Sony PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, Microsoft Xbox 360, Nintendo DS and Sony PSP owners everywhere. |

There was just a couple of updates since Electronic Arts revealed the new Simpsons
game in their two-nighter event, so it probably was a blessing that
Homer bowled his way in through the ruckus at the E3 Media &
Business Summit and dropped two more trailers in his wake.
While the movie trailer has been milling around for weeks in cinemas, The Simpsons Game is also rearing itself for adoption by fans around the world on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, DS, PSP, and the PS2. The two trailers provided give you a sneak peek at the graphical quality of the game, including a few cues for camera angles, gameplay concepts, and a little humor with hatches. The last time we heard about the highly-anticipated multiplatform title of EA's The Simpsons, we found out that most of the levels are going to be parodies of contemporary video game classics (i.e. God of Wharf, Shadow of the Colossal Donut, Medal of Homer). Now, we've uncovered some new info about the game concerning the final boss - and no, it's not the usual ones we'd expect, like Mr. Burns or Sideshow Bob. Rather, it's the boss that would pretty much leave the fourth wall broken into tiny bite-sized pieces, The Simpsons">Matt Groening himself. Yep, it's the creator of The Simpsons who'll be left standing between you and the Game Cleared screen after all is said and done - which makes for a very interesting final boss fight indeed. If you're curious as to just what the mind behind Springfield's inhabitants think about this development, this is what he has to say: Well the video game is mainly written by great writers, Matt Selman and Matt Warburton - I mean, you can just tell. Great, right? They did a send-up of video games. It's a video game about video games; and I'm in the video game. I'm a boss that you have to fight at the end of the game. It was really fun recording a million ways of dying, going 'UGGH, ARGGH, EUURGH!' Certainly very creative updates indeed. We can only wonder what else would be revealed during the weeks to come. Updates as we get them! |
