meowth - Image 1It's official: Worldwide sales of the extremely popular Nintendo DS games Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl have combined to hit the 10 million unit mark, further solidifying the franchise's claim as one of the all-time best sellers.

The two games are often considered as one installment in the series, but with different Pokemon to see and capture in adherence to the tradition initiated by the original Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue. As usual, you take on the role of a single Pokemon trainer who's out there to be the very best (like no one ever was). Team Rocket, like always, is up to no good and you're going to have to teach them another lesson in pain.

The game was released in September of last year in Japan and was offered to American and European markets earlier in 2007. New features such as a headset that supports voice features and online play added some new areas to explore for veterans of the series. Creator Satoshi Tajiri must be flashing his million dollar smile right now.

We have new pictures of both the DS headset and DS card holder than will hit Japan soon. The card holder comes in two sizes. One is a bit smaller than the DS Lite and can hold two game cards. The other is a bit bigger and can hold three game cards as well as a DS Lite stylus.

The headset features one headphone and a mic to speak into. It will be used for greater voice clarity in games like Nintendogs and online games like Metroid Prime: Hunters. It should be very useful for players who want to bring their Pokemon online with Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl!

DS Headset - Image 1 DS Headset - Image 2

Jeux France got up some new pictures of the DS headset. Like a PC headset, a microphone is attached along with the earphones. The device is stylish when compared to most devices that do the job and fits the colour of the console well. Hopefully there will be more colours for those people with the Black, Pink, Navy, or Ice coloured versions!

It will be released in Japan on September 14th - the same day as the hugely anticipated Wii conference! This should be a big hit among Nintendog fans who are tired of speaking into the little hole on their DS!

DS HeadsetHMV, a Japanese online retailer has listed the new Nintendo DS Headset as a DS accessory at their site, and accompanying the product is a picture! Up until now, we only knew that the headset would be released on September 14th for 1,200 Yen (roughly 10$) with no picture to accompany the small device.

Datel released a headset for the NDS several months ago, but this is the first official headset product from Nintendo. Like Datel's headset, it will be a one-piece set that fits over one of your ears. This will be ideal for those games such as Brain Age and Metriod Prime: Hunters where talking into the microphone is found the most. So, no more spitting on your NDS or new shinny NDSL and look stylish at the same time!
