"It's time to stop bad-mouthing EA." This is what David Rutter, producer for Electronic Arts FIFA game franchise, had to say to the naysayers and critics that have nothing but the worst to say about his company. There has been a lot of EA-bashing for some time now, so Rutter comes to EA's defense, with a small confession of his own.

Nothing feels quite like taking it strong against the defenders and scoring that sweet, sweet top-corner goal. For FIFA 10, Electronic Arts decided to raise the bar to give you a much better experience than any FIFA game before it. Learning from a massive 275 million games played online, EA Sports gathered all the feedback and input from players and their games to bring new innovations for the soccer sensation. Call of Duty: World at War is still top gun in the UK. So far, nothing's been able to knock it off the top of the software charts since it entered last month. Resistance 2, on the other hand, is only on its second week in the regions and has already fallen to 20th place.

The numbers are in from the UK and it looks like gamers are still too busy with Call of Duty: World at War to bother with Resistance 2, which entered the charts at 10th place. That's way lower than expected for the highly anticipated (or not) game.

In its first week in the UK alone, FIFA 09 has already set a record - that of being EA's best-selling football title in its launch week (a record previously held by FIFA 08). Hit the forward button to a few more weeks down the line and FIFA 09 is setting a new record.

It's not quite the holiday seasons yet, but it looks like the Xbox 360 got an early hit in against the PlayStation 3. Gears of War 2 debuted at the top of the UK's software charts, getting the one-up against LittleBigPlanet, which also debuted in the same week.

Lego Batman: The Video Game debuts this week in second place.

As if there were any doubts about it, the UK indeed loves its football. With the recent release of FIFA 09 across all major platforms, the latest Chart Track sales figures have experienced an upheaval. Ole! Setting a record, FIFA 09 shoots straight to the top of the All Formats Chart as a debuting entry, toppling Star Wars: The Force Unleashed from first place.
