id SoftwareDoom. Quake. Greatness has often been associated with these two games and the company that brought them to us: id Software - widely considered to be THE founding fathers of the whole FPS genre. With the appearance of DS homebrew that are based on id properties, Cubed3 decided to ask the id Software's Todd Hollenshead a few questions.

Of course, since the whole interview all came about due to DS homebrew, the first thing asked was for confirmation of reports that certain mobile phone games, such as Doom RPG, could end up on the Nintendo DS. To this, Hollenshead replied, "There aren't any firm plans as of now. We're still evaluating the platform. The primary DS candidate would be Orcs & Elves, but it would be a new title in that game universe and not a port from cell games to the DS."

The Nintendo Wii and it's unique user interface also figured in the interview. It has been stated that the Wii's control system is perfect for FPS games, and so Cubed3 also asked Hollenshead if id Software is considering taking some of their properties for a Wii spin. Hollenshead was not able to give definite answers (they don't have Wii dev kits at the moment) but said that if the Wii's user interface "really ends up being an awesome fit for FPS games then we will certainly pay attention to it."
