Yoda was a tough but fair mentor to his padawan Luke Skywalker and he grew up as a kick-ass Jedi Knight. Now what would happen if your mentor was Darth Vader? Ok, imagine being raised by Darth Vader and then given a light saber and having mind-boggling control over the force. Result, Star Wars: Force Unleashed. One thing's for sure, being padawan to Darth Vader can't be easy. Even though the apprentice says he is committed to the Dark Side, Vader won't be an easy master. You're gonna get a whoopin' from both your enemies and the guy who was the Dark Side's rallying point for years. Vader even subjects his apprentice to psychological torment, playing him to an Imperial pilot named Juno Eclipse, to see how love would affect his alliances. Hayden Blackman, project lead of the game, comments: "He's Vader. He's like the worst father figure imaginable." Developers explain during the San Diego Comic-Con that because the protagonist is a "secret apprentice," he is expected to kill Imperial troops as well as rebels to avoid being found out. They also said that there will be a lot of familiar faces although did not name specifics. As for being able to play Darth Vader himself, Blackman simply stated that we "stay tuned." Expect an all out demonstration of the force in this game. Blackman describes it as "amped up, out of control [and] over the top." The game will be released spring of next year for the PS3, Xbox 360, PS2, PSP and Nintendo DS. |

Lucas Arts turned up the heat during this year's E3 by unleashing the latest trailer of the next highly anticipated Force-using, butt-whooping, lightsaber wielding game in the Star Wars franchise. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is, by the looks of it, going to be the most epic title released in that line to date. |

The last time we heard from Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga, we were promised that we'll actually be able to play through the entire space opera in cute Lego form - from Anakin's beginnings as a Padawan to the destruction of the Empire (and Ewok-related festivities). We've seen the screenshots, we've busted our sides laughing at the trailer, and now, from E3, is a gameplay video of the multiplatform title Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga that shows clips from all the chapters in Star Wars. One thing's for sure - despite the cuteness of Lego, the scale of the game is amazing. The lightsaber action is fast and furious, the animations smooth and crisp - and the environments convincing and spectacular. There's some very fun-looking ship-piloting action on the side, too. Greatest point of the video: playing as Darth Vader and force-choking that accursed Jar Jar Binks into submission. OH YEAH! Enough spoilers from us, enjoy the video! |

In a recent announcement by LucasArts, it seems that their Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will not be making it's expected release date this November (when they first announced this release, it was to be released in conjunction with the 30th anniversary of Star Wars this year, but apparently that's not the case anymore). The question "Why, LucasArts, why?" is reportedly being screamed by fans of the series everywhere. However, to date, LucasArts has yet to give details on why they have decided to delay the release. The game takes place between "Revenge of the Sith" and "A New Hope" with the player controlling Darth Vader's apprentice. You will have to hunt out the remaining Jedi throughout the universe. Judging from the videos, the game will be featuring awesome force powers ranging from simply knocking opponents back, to actually grabbing debris to fling at an incoming TIE fighter. The game is now slated for release on the PS3, Xbox 360, PS2, PSP, and DS in spring 2008. How this delay will affect sales of the game is still unknown, although a lot fanboys and fangirls have maintained their resolve to pick up a copy of the game. |
