I remember, other than Ranma, Sailormoon, and Slam Dunk, the other epic of an anime that I truly enjoyed was Yuu Yuu Hakusho, or in the US more commonly known as The Poltergeist Report. Now, with the anime still one of Japan's favorites of all time, they cannot help but bring back the series to life by giving its fans a DS game to enjoy. The DS game is a 2D adventure which follows the beginning of the series, the time when Yuusuke officially has become a ghost, and the arc of the anime concerned with the martial arts competition in the Underworld. It is here that the boys - Yuusuke, Kuwabara, Hiei, and Kurama - fight to the ends to make their team win to gain the title of being the strongest men in the underworld. However, the series would not entirely follow arcade versus fight for this game (like the other Yuu Yuu Hakusho games released in older consoles), but rather it will follow an RPG wherein you go around the underworld killing monsters. You have the four members of your team to choose from, and you can go around the underworld, training yourself until you reach the desired level to participate in the competition. In competition, your special techniques will be animated and its success will determine whether you win the match or not. Fans of the series will definitely enjoy going back through how the boys first met as well as the hardships they went through just to get through the rounds. The game is set to be released some time September. |

The Nintendo DS Homebrew Competition is in full swing over at NDSHB. You've had your chance blowing up your enemies with Explosive Gas, and now comes PhotoCup DS created by Knight of Dragon. It's an interesting multiplayer homebrew that lets you test your skills in finding the differences between two images before the timer runs out. It may not be as intense as blowing people to smithereens, but it sure is a great way to keep those eyes moving. PhotoCup DS features a single game mode where the ultimate goal is to get the highest score. If you've got company, you can play the Coop or Versus mode, though they won't be saved. The game has three difficulty levels: Random, Level, Choice. As the name implies, Random shows you a random amount of changes on screen. In Level, more images are added depending on round. If you hate challenges, go for Choice, where you pick the amount of changes you want. Wi-Fi and Mic Chat are not enabled in this version. Download: [PhotoCup DS] |

Recently, the owners of NDSHB held a homebrew competition for the NDS that involved WiFi capabilities. This is one of the first homebrew competitions to be specifically for WiFi homebrew, and in my opinion it produced some excellent homebrew for the NDS! One of these great pieces of homebrew was Davido2's IRC DS program, an IRC program that functions on the NDS via the WiFi capabilities of it. I myself, being an avid visitor of IRC channels will surely use this rather than having my computer use all those unnecessary resources/RAM. So, if you are like me and would like to spare a few MB's of RAM by not running those PC IRC clients pull out that NDS of yours and start this baby up! Download: [IRC DS] |

Recently NDSHB held a WiFi game competition. The host of the competition said that it did not go well, but I would say that it went well. Although there were not many entries, those that did enter did an outstanding job. JimmyL, who has made the famous NDS homebrew game A Touch of War entered the competition with a totally new game, Explosive Gas. The object of this game is to kill your opponents using bombs. The last man standing is declared the winner, and since this was entered into a WiFi game competition, it has online play! This is one place that PSP homebrew lacks, but NDS homebrew seems to succeed flawlessly. You can play in a match of up to 8 players at once! Download: [Explosive Gas] |
