May the Force be with Wii. And DS. That's what a posted advertisement tells us after plastering Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi in their CGI movie form together with logos of the Wii and DS. Star Wars: The Clone Wars is based on the same cartoon series Star Wars fans had watch before seeking out Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith in theaters or DVD. Closure reasons, surely. If you've missed the cartoon, you might want to reconsider missing the game adaptation of the cartoon's CGI movie remake. More at the full story. |

The Crisis Core week has landed! And what better way to to prep you up for Square Enix's latest game on the PSP? Remember Monty Oum's CGI fanvid from a few months ago where hot babes Tifa, Rikku, and Yuna of Final Fantasy and Kasumi, Ayane, and Hitomi of Dead or Alive were pitted against each other in a Brawl - err, brawl, rather? Well, today we've got the sequel to that! And it's packing quite a punch with three new characters that jump into the fray. Who, you ask? Ah, well, sorry... No spoilers! Read more for the video. |

Taking a page from Square Enix's successful release of "Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children" a couple of years back, Capcom and Sony Pictures Entertainment have announced plans to release their own full-length CGI movie based on the hit Resident Evil (a.k.a. Biohazard in Japan) franchise. The movie will be titled "Biohazard: Degeneration", and will be the first full-length CG animation movie feature based on the popular video game series of games and movies. Many will recognize Resident Evil for establishing the survival horror game genre and its many successful titles across multiple platforms since it was first released in 1996. The latest iteration to the series, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, marks the continuation of the video game franchise and shows no sign of stopping any time soon. Following a successful spin-off on the silver screen, the trilogy of films produced and directed by Paul Anderson was well received by movie and video game buffs everywhere, with each movie grossing over US$ 100 million at the international box office. With Sony's and Capcom's announcement of this newest offspring for the series, fans of Resident Evil will definitely be watching out for this latest cinematic experience. No news on the characters or its plot in the complicated timeline of the Resident Evil series have been announced, but we're keeping our eyes open for any new developments from the two companies. Biohazard: Degeneration is currently in production and set to be released in 2008. |

Following the trend of other video games going to the big screen (such as Castlevania), Sierra Entertainment's diminutive purple dragon Spyro may be hitting the movies as well.Variety has recently reported that The Animation Pictures Co. managed to get the rights to create a Spyro 3D animation film based on the Spyro game franchise, similar to the likes of currently popular CGI animation movies such as Shrek. The planned Spyro movie will get a top-notch movie treatment, with Dr. Doolittle's Steve and Dan Altiere as script writers. As for voice actors, considering that the game already had a high profile cast (such as Elijah Wood and Gary Oldman), it's not a far-fetched guess that the movie will have the same star-studded voice cast. The director is yet to be hired and the release date yet to be revealed, but you can be sure that we'll keep you posted. More updates to come! |

And the E3 madness continues, with the other big players in the industry giving the public a sneak peek at the heat they're currently packing (or about to pack). This time, it's all about Take-Two, publisher of this and last generation's most controversial franchises, namely Bully, Manhunt, and Grand Theft Auto. We give you the skinny on what went down in the legendary company's E3 2007 Briefing. The entire E3 update after the jump! |

It looks like Nintendo will be pulling out all the stops in its attempts to maintain Pokemon's hold on the children of the future. To commemorate the April 22nd release of Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl in the United States, Nintendo will be holding a pika-party for poke-fans everywhere, with over 5000 of them expected to attend the event at Nintendo's World Store. In addition to fun games and activities for kids, interactive game stations will be available for CCG fans to try out the latest installments of Pokemon video and card game series. A special movie lounge will also be set up for people to watch the latest Pokemon movie, called "Pokemon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea." Of course, what would a launch be without the actual product? Attendees will be the first people in the US to have their hands on the American version of the game, and will be treated to a special Pokeball scavenger hunt that will see lucky winners getting even more free stuff from Nintendo. For parents reading QJ, that's going to be on April 22, from 1 p.m. to 5p.m. at the Nintendo World Store at Rockerfeller center. Enjoy! |

Here we go again with videogame movie adaptations. MSNBC has a poll about the top five videogames that should be ported to the silver screen. Metroid and Prince of Persia took top spots. Various reactions could be gotten from those titles alone. Prince of Persia has been announced to be set for a Summer 2008 release via Jerry Bruckheimer. But Metroid? First questions that come to mind would be: Is it going to be a live action movie or would it be better off as CGI? If it's a live action movie, who'd play Samus Aran? We've seen countless movie adaptations that simply fell flat both on the box office and in the eyes of the videogame fans. And we're sure that fellow gamers haven't forgotten BloodRayne, Doom, Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil, and the list just go on and on. There are a number of promising upcoming movie adaptations like Gears of War, Metal Gear Solid, and even a World of Warcraft movie. Let's hope they don't disappoint. What games do you think deserve a movie adaptation? |
