System Flaw - Image 1Developer Visual Impact found some good use for the DSi's camera and integrated it into their new game, System Flaw. The feature basically adds the game on top of what otherwise be your normal camera mode, so you'll have to move your camera (and yourself) around in order to hunt aliens down.

Aliens: Colonial Marines - Image 1Gearbox Software's Aliens: Colonial Marines (PS3, Xbox 360) was first announced three years ago. Originally, it was supposed to come out last year, but it was rescheduled for a mid-2009 release. We're now coming to the end of mid-2009 but the game's still nowhere in sight. Gearbox says it's still coming, though. Just not this year.

On Shelves This Week: March 22 to March 28, 2009 - Image 1This week is like multiplatform game week. Pretty much everything that drops this week for both the handhelds and the home consoles are multiplatform: Wanted: Weapons of Fate, The Wheelman, Legends of WrestleMania... Looks like the only console to get some exclusives this week is the DS. But enough chitchat. Let's get right on to the release schedules!

Activision - Image 1Activision's fiscal 2008 Q2 report is in, and the results are very encouraging. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (Sony PS3, Microsoft Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, PC) is bringing the house down as it earns over US$ 100 million in its first week to seal its reputation as one of gaming's most successful launches ever. Activision is definitely on a roll and has openly predicted that Q3 2007 just might yield income of about US$ 1 billion. Want to know the full financial details? Read more, then.

Boogie for the Wii has been released and has been strutting its stuff for a little under a month now. We've seen both good and bad reviews for the big version and we wonder how Electronic Arts' party game would fare on Nintendo's handheld.

We've got Boogie for the DS' trailer and judging from the clips, the game looks like a collection of minigames. EA hasn't spilled the beans on the DS port yet, gameplay and storyline-wise. Though we do know that the aliens and humans aspiring to be the superstar of the universe are still in attendance: Bubba, Jet, Julius, Kato, and Lea.

Check out the video to see what we're talking about. Are you ready to Boogie on your handheld? We'll know when this title hits the shelves come the holiday season.

They're not lost in space, but they do seem to plan on beating the stuffing out of space aliens while they're there. Straight from Famitsu are new screens of Banpresto's Super Robot Taisen W, or Super Robot Wars W, featuring a family with their own bunch of robots, and a massive carrier to boot.

First off is the protagonist and his younger sister who, according to the translations online, are part of the Adeigan family. Kazuma and Mihiro Adeigan pilot the Real Robot known as Valhawk which, like Macross' Valkyries, transform for jet fighter to robot.

Next up is their big daddy and the some of the other members of the crew of the Valstork, the carrier for the Valhawk and other additional mechs your crew will eventually pick up. Blessfield Adeigan is the ship's captain and father to Kazuma and Mihiro. Along with him, but not pictured below are Shihomi and Akane Adeigan, ship operator and gunner, respectively. Lastly, the Valstork also has Horis Horaian, their quartermaster.

Of course, you're probably more interested in the new mechs, so who are we to stop you? Enjoy the new screenshots and pray it heads to America and the UK, alright? If you can translate it a bit more accurately for us, let us know as well. We'd love to hear from you.

Gaming Characters

My editor walks up to me and asked, "How long have you been a gamer?" I replied, "Since I was around nine."

My editor then said, "Nine huh? You've been playing since nine?" Didn't he just listen to me? I responded "Yeah, didn't I just answer your question?" He said, "Good good, so in the 15 or so years you've been playing games, do you have any favorite gaming heroes or villains? I'd like you to list them in an article, and then I'd like you to have them battle it out or something, and then we could ask the readers to comment on what they think about it."

I replied, "Wasn't this already done in that flash video of the Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny?" He blinks a bit and then asks, "the wha...? I interrupted him and said, "Never mind, I'll try not to put Chuck Norris in to the thing."

So who am I putting into my own custom made "good guys, bad guys and explosions" scenario? I'm thinking of making this a five-villain-five-hero free for all. So, let me start with the good guys I'm picking:

Rockman from the Rockman series – Yep, I'm using the Japanese name. Why? Because it's cool that way. I'm putting in the blue bomber in the fray because the little blue sprite just won't die. The series has how many incarnations now? If I'm gonna put in characters into an Ultimate showdown, I'm going to put in characters with staying power. Zelda, Sonic, and Mario get so much recognition for being "legendary", well-loved characters already, so I'm skipping them. Yep, Rockman gets a slot.

More on the rest of the contenders and the outcome of the virtual battle after the Jump!

Slacking around? No lovelife? Aliens swarming your village? Hmmm...looks like Gintama to us. He's this manga character who's main mission in life is to pay the rent. So he and his freelance (read: unemployed) friends take up odd jobs and end up in weird adventures. It is one of the funnier titles in manga today. This humorous series goes to the DS. Yes, now you can experience the "freelance lifestyle" in the palm of your hand.

To further promote this cool manga, they've gone so far as to do a commercial. Even in Japanese it looks funny. Check out the perm on that guy. Freelancers unite!
