DS Electronic Library: Alison

The game is called DS Electric Library, a digital novel that you can read with your DS. However, unlike most novels that you most definitely just browse through while reading, this novel gives you a chance to alter the story written. It works much like those children's book named "Choose Your Own Adventure" wherein your choices affect what happens next in the story. Unlike RPGs, the game is heavily text based, so make sure you're ready for a read. The Electric Library's first shot at this novel enterprise in the DS is called "Alison", a story of a girl who has a dream of flying her own plane for the Russian Federation. When an important person from the Russian Federation was kidnapped, Alison and her friend Bill are off to save him from the enemy's hands. As you browse through the pages of the story, you can also view illustrations of it. More so, special events within the novel also happen. If you click on a particular button at a particular event, it could lead you to a mini-game. I can only assume that this is one of Nintendo's venture in making their handheld more educational. Nintendo intends to release at least 3 Alison novels for the Electric Library. |

Brave Story - Boku no Kioku to Negai

It's been a while since we heard news about a DS version of Brave Story coming out, now the website updates us on the full title of the game as well as some details about the story. The Brave Story game for the DS is named Brave Story - Boku no Kioku to Negai, which translates to Brave Story - My Memory and Desire. The premise of the game brings you to two worlds, first, the real world, and the other, the magical world.
In the real world, you are an 18 year old whose life is currently on the rocks. A little frustrated with life, you reminisce your childhood by looking at your old books and find a book that your mother has given you. You head to a secluded place to read the book peacefully, until you open the book and your adventure begins the moment Mitsuru, one of the book's characters, welcomes you to their world. In this world, you play as the hero who has arrived in this magical world to fulfill his destiny. Mitsuru then guides you to this world and teaches you the way of the book. Exploring the world is easy, you simply use your touch pen to move your character around. The game works like any other RPG of the FF kind wherein you go around towns to progress in the story and so on. You are also entitled to play puzzles to unlock things in the game. The game's animation appears to be very 2D in nature, a stark contrast compared to its PSP counterpart. However, the game does not promise whether Brave Story will hold the same plot as the movie. It may be related to the film, yet the site doesn't really show the significance it has with the upcoming animated film. Perhaps, it will be like the PSP game, on a more 2D level. |

Nothing in this world is free. This is the lesson that you learn once you begin your Gintama adventure! Based on a highly popular series from Shounen Jump, you will begin your game as a part of Yorozuya, the freelance agency of Gintama's hero, Gintoki. The story of Gintama involves the debt-ridden Gintoki who takes odd jobs in order to pay his lodgings. In due time, he managed to find other debt-ridden fellows, and together they try to make some cash. The theme of the anime and comic is very humorous, in a slapstick and silly way. It is one of the notoriously funny titles that is running in Shounen Jump, however it is still untapped by the foreign fans as most of them prefer titles like Bleach and Naruto. In the game, you can choose either one of the characters of Gintama and you can head out into town looking for things that you can do to make a living. As you walk around town, you can ask people on what you can do for them, and in turn they could or could not give you some odd jobs. And when the game says odd jobs, they mean odd. Your job can go as far as capturing someone's cat, or weeding your neighbor's garden. In the game, make sure you don't run in with the law, else the Shinsengumi will run after you! This is a game packed with mini-games with the main objective of getting you out of your debt-ridden life. The game is fun and brainless and consists of nothing but fun little mini-games and stories much like the anime and the comic. The game will be sold in Japan sometime summer.
