QJ.NET reviews: Contra 4 - Image 1 After horrendous attempts of going 3D and using all sorts of gimmicks to beat the dead horse, Konami has finally given justice to its original arcade classic. Developer WayForward Technologies took Contra 4 back to its grandfathers, and created a game for the Nintendo DS with all the elements that got us hooked with Contra's first coming. We played it, died a few hundred times, but ultimately conquered and here's our review.

If you've got the guts to know more about the hardest and manliest games of late, press Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, go to the full article.

Contra 4 - Image 1Konami has opened the official site for its upcoming Nintendo DS action title Contra 4. In true Contra fashion, the front page is in chic black and flames with the cool box art and the Contra logo taking center stage. A "Buy Now" link is also right there to take you to a page where you can make transactions secure.

Contra 4 uses a 2D side-scrolling interface while utilizing both screens of the Nintendo DS. Players can move across the two screens by ascending and descending with a handy grappling hook. In addition to the normal 2D stages, three special 3D bases are also included to add diversity to the time-tested Contra formula.

Mr. Modchips loses to ELSPA in court battle, appeal granted - Image 1The Entertainment and Leisure Software Publishers Association (ELSPA) sent in a press release informing QJ.NET about a successful court battle against businessman Neil Stanley Higgs known online as "Mr. Modchips".

He was charged in UK for distributing and selling the "illegal technology" that enables gamers play backup DVD and CD copies. The decision was granted a couple of days ago and charged Higgs of three counts of advertising, supplying, and selling modchips.

Aside from that, the businessman was also found guilty of 12 counts of possessing 19 chipped games consoles as well as 11 counts of possessing Executor and Viper GC modchips. Higgs argued that all the possessions in question found during one of ELSPA's investigations were owned by family members and friends.

Unfortunately for him, Judge Carole Hagen didn't believe his defense. Reports said that since starting business in 2002, Higgins has accumulated a total of one million GBP (US$ 2.05 million) in revenue. ELSPA Managing Director Michael Rawlinson said:

This case today sets a major precedent which marks a milestone in the fight against piracy, protecting the games industry's investment in fantastic games. It sends a clear message to anyone tempted to become involved in "chipping" consoles that this is a criminal offence and will be dealt in the strongest possible way.

Neil Stanley Higgs' attorneys filed for an appeal which the judge granted.

Snake, are you there? - Image 1We all know Konami never holds anything back when it comes to big video game events, and this year's E3 is no different. Just now, the gaming giant announced nine games that will be showing off some flair under Konami's belt during the party.

Dance Dance Revolution: Hottest Party for the Wii is sure to dominate the dance floor, along with Dance Dance Revolution SuperNOVA 22 for the PS2 to revitalize the arcade hit that made players get off their comfortable couch to do some dancing and break some sweat. Featuring crowd favorite songs and new innovative game modes, we expect buckets of sweat and tons of fun.

A couple more titles will be hitting the Wii: cutesy water droplet action Dewy's Adventure, and a fishing game Fishing Master developed by Hudson Entertainment. This new bait for angler orgy will feature the use of the Wiimote and Nunchuck as rod and reel, as players utilize different baits to hook up more than 100 fish in their quest to be the Fishing Master.

Konami's PSP offering during E3 will include much anticipated Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles from the undying, vampire slaying franchise. We have seen so much from this game that depriving people on E3 of a hands-on experience would be criminal.

The mini-sized installment on what is arguably the best psychological horror series there is, Silent Hill, will be hitting Sony's handheld with Silent Hill Origins. Talks of Travis O'Grady trucking over the DS came up a few ways back, but it doesn't look like it'll happen this E3.

More on this after the jump!
