Bleach: The 3rd Phantom from V-jump - Image 1

When an anime/manga hits big in Japan and receives success outside the land of the rising sun, you just know a monster franchise is born. It doesn't come as a surprise when Japanese magazine V-jump recently revealed Bleach: The 3rd Phantom for the Nintendo DS, but we sure are excited.

Ichigo and other lovable Bleach characters are back for some action, but in turn-based fashion this time around. From what we see on the scans JeuxFrance bagged, The 3rd Phantom looks like a solid strategy RPG that should attract fans of the series and genre alike. Battles seem to be grid-based, as cutesy anime-esque 3D character models move around and face-off against each other.

When initiating attacks, both attacker and defender appear on screen as they execute their actions. Other than that, we are yet to uncover any details about the game. It's also very likely that it won't reach western shores any time soon, but we'll keep you posted, so watch this space!

V-jump scan confirms Blue Dragon DS - Image 1Looks like nothing can stop Mistwalker and the love for Blue Dragon; a poster over at the NeoGAF forums was able to put up a V-jump scan revealing that Blue Dragon, former Xbox 360 exclusive, will grace the Nintendo DS. Unfortunately, we don't know much about how the game will be like.

From the scans that focus on the game's other goodies like its anime DVDs, there is a small confirmation that Blue Dragon will indeed appear on the DS. With the company lead by Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi working on Ash: Archaic Sealed Heat for Nintendo's handheld, our fingers are crossed for a high quality game as a product of Mistwalker's expertise with the platform.

There is confusion about claims of Blue Dragon on the DS being a card game, but the images we see from the scan show promise of a full-blown adventure. We'll have to wait for any official confirmation before concluding if the game will be tied to the trading card game, or be an entirely new entry to the franchise.

Final Fantasy Tactics A2 - Image 1 Final Fantasy Tactics A2 - Image 2

The third game in Square Enix' Ivalice Alliance isn't taking any stops at all. Final Fantasy Tactics A2: The Sealed Grimoire for the Nintendo DS is more than just an indirect sequel to FFT: Advanced. Instead, it's an entirely new package with new jobs and races in addition to an already wide array of existing ones. Just by looking at these scans from Japanese magazine V-Jump, we can already see FFT:A2 as a leg up.

While we can expect some major changes and improvements from the upcoming video game, FFT:A2's story starts off quite like its predecessor. A naughty young boy named Luso finds himself in the world of Ivalice after jotting down his name on a fantasy book. Being an adventurous little fella, he decides to explore the place. The story happens after the events of Final Fantasy XII, giving us a good idea on what transpired after the war ended.

Final Fantasy IV remake on Nintendo DS - Image 1 Final Fantasy IV remake on Nintendo DS - Image 2

Like OMG, it's Cecil and Cain and Rosa! Again! Well, not that this is entirely new or anything. Some screens and character renders in the above Final Fantasy IV scans have already been seen before. But we were thinking, hey, there's still a couple new stuff thrown in here, so might as well, right? The scans come from one of Japan's leading video game magazines, V-Jump, and these particular ones were fished out of a NeoGAF thread.

Look at the scans closely now: see that screenshot on the right page? It's one of the first - to this writer's best knowledge - of what battle will be handled in the remake. It's definitely different from how battles were in the FFIII remake (which had the battle on the touch screen). This one has the battle menu taking up the touchscreen.

A comment from shadowprophet (Unregistered) in our previous "FFIV scan" article has a very optimistic outlook on this title, and probably much of us can agree:

Of every ds game since its launch, I anticipate this one the most. final fantasy 4 was my favorite final fantasy. and still is. // no story in any final fantasy has ever toped the depth of ff4. // I will have this game.. // yes I shall..

To each his or her own, but we're just praying that Square Enix would finally announce the North America release date soon.

It's not surprising if you have no idea how much of a phenomenon Dragon Quest is in Japan; it's even forgivable if you haven't heard of the classic RPG franchise that our fellow gamers over the land of the rising sun worship. Now that Square Enix has decided to remake three DQ titles of old for the Nintendo DS, there's no excuse not to at least take a look at what the buzz is all about. With that said, here are some fresh Dragon Quest IV scans from Japanese magazine V-Jump.

Those who've been keeping tabs on Square Enix' trifecta of revivals would find some of the shots familiar, but we reckon they're still be enjoyable to look at. The pages are packed with information for those who can recognize Japanese characters.

What we can figure is how Squeenix' sticking close to the roots of DQ IV. Environments still look exciting and green, populated with classic DQ folks that are now in 3D. Combat seems like it'll still be old school, having enemies on your screen while commands are right below them.

Some of the images below aren't really that recent, and are dated since the 20th of last month. However, since this is our first coverage of this game, we'll be including all of the screens we can find, so you guys have something to check out.

This fifth installment in the series is reportedly set to return to a more traditional style of action-platform gameplay, and is also set to feature four-player multiplayer.

The game was developed by Tetsuya Nomura and it tells the tale of Shibuya-born Neku Sakuraba. Near as we can figure, the poor lad has to complete a mission in seven days if he wants to stay alive. Information right now is pretty scarce, but we'll let you in on more details when news is forthcoming, so just keep it posted here.

Naruto: Shinobi Retsuden

A few days ago, a rumor of an upcoming Naruto title is heading for the DS had surfaced. Unfortunately, the entry didn't give out a title or gameplay info, but it did mention that  the game would include a 3D grapple system. The rumor was further discussed in a follow-up article, which also claims that Naruto: Shinobi Retsuden will not only be gracing DS screens but also, the Nintendo Wii.

It seems the rumor has been laid to rest as Japanese magazine, V-Jump, featured scans of Naruto: Shinobi Retsuden that will be published by Takara TOMY. What really made us excited is the fact that Naruto: Shinobi Retsuden is the first 3D fighting game on the DS. As such, the game will utilize the dual screens and touch screen system in some way. The gameplay appears to look similar to the Naruto: Clash of Ninja series of fighting games on the GameCube.

Naruto: Shinobi Retsuden is currently scheduled to be released in winter, but we'll keep our eyes peeled for the official announcement. In the meantime, check out these scans:
