As 08-08-08 drums ever so near, it's not very surprising to find some Olympics themed video games in the works. Publisher Ghostlight has just released a batch of screenshots for one such title, International Athletics. It's slated for release on both the PlayStation Portable and Nintendo DS handhelds. A few days ago we reported that Ubisoft has plans of making a new Prince of Persia for the PC, Xbox 360, PS3 and DS. Now, another console might be part of this list according to the company - the Wii. They also added that the DS version isn't going to be just any regular port. We got an interesting tidbit of information regarding the report on video games made by TV psychologist Tanya Byron. Apparently, the whole study that was released this year had a whopping total amount of about US$ 544,000. Details can be found after the jump.

It seems like SCi Entertainment is finally getting into the role of the reluctant "father", ready to give away his daughter (i.e. Lara Croft) at the altar. It was confirmed recently that SCi will be entertaining the possibility of opening a major business investment in the near future to help get the company back on track. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games seems to have finally ended its long reign on top place in the UK Charts - only to be succeeded by another Mario game that's likely to top the charts for months on end: Mario Kart Wii. Turns out you don't need super shiny cars to sell a racing game. At least, not according to the latest UK software charts, where Mario Kart Wii bursts into first place in its first week out, overtaking Gran Turismo 5: Prologue. Aside from this, Mario Kart Wii also got more sales in its first week than if you combined all the first week sales of previous Mario titles on the Wii. The Entertainment and Leisure Software Publishers Association (ELSPA) and some of its partners recently conducted a raid which yielded illegally copied Nintendo DS games stored on discs. Meanwhile, ELSPA's crime unit head, John Hillier, wants to remind gamers (whatever console you may own) the detestable effects of piracy on the whole industry.
