Dungeon Explorer to be released on the Nintendo DS - Image 1Way back in 1989, there was a Hudson Soft game called Dungeon Explorer for the TurboGrafx-16. This top-down action RPG has become a cult classic and is still considered as one of the better games of its generation. Younger players who weren't able to try the original will be getting a chance to do so since a remade version of it will be launched on various platforms namely the Xbox 360, PSP, and now the Nintendo DS.

The newer system does away with the stricter character job system and offers eight different schools upon which your avatar's various moves will be based on. While this may seem a bit different from the original game which had eight character classes (nine if you count the hidden class), it still stays remarkably true to its predecessor.

So far no release date has been announced for this game, so we'll have to wait for an official announcement regarding this. The game looks to be shaping up pretty well, so RPG fans might want to be on the lookout for more news about this title.

Dungeon Explorer - Image 1Pocket Gamer reports that another classic title will soon be making its way to handheld systems in Europe thanks to publisher Rising Star, who is currently working on a handheld version of Dungeon Explorer.

Dungeon Explorer was first released for the TurboGrafx-16 in 1989 and centered around a quest for the Ora Stone. Players can choose to play as a fighter, thief, warlock, witch, bishop, elf, bard, or knome, and special character classes such as the Princess can be unlocked as players get further into the game.

Details about the handheld version are still scarce but hopefully it will also feature a multiplayer mode - something that both the original and the Virtual Console version had. Dungeon Explorer is currently slated for a February 2008 release.
