Let me start by clarifying that this is in no way a Nintendo marketing attempt for the New Super Mario Bros. Wii coming out on November 15th (WTF if this is). This happened for real. Two guys dressed up as Mario and Luigi (presumably for Halloween), plus one other suspect, are now wanted by the police for assault and robbery on a poor cabbie.

20 years after Nintendo launched the Game Boy, the immensely popular portable gaming device has now been inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame, joining the ranks of an elite list of legendary playthings. An honor well-deserved. Seeking to continue their hardware success, Nintendo has had another busy week, topped off with updates from three of their biggest execs.

Looking back to the week, it seems that both publishers and homebrew developers were able to deliver on their respective forms of output. We've got trailers, images, and stats for the the games, while devs got busy and released updates for their respective brew. You might want to check up on all those - you won't regret it. Shigeru Miyamoto himself has said it - they'll be moving along with the progress of technology and he wants to see games with better graphics. Couple that with the rumor that a graphically-superior Nintendo DS is on its way, then perhaps Nintendo has been busying itself with preparing new hardware. For now, they're working on existing hardware, turning white controllers black, and enlisting balance boards in the fight against terrorism.

They might not be doing so hot right now, but that doesn't mean we should forget the success they've had for the most part of the year. It's been a head-on collision between Sony and Microsoft the past week with their own respective price cut announcements. Oddly enough, Nintendo remains sitting prettily and quietly. Have they got no plans to launch their defenses in light of the current happenings? Apparently, no, they don't.

Nintendo itself may have gone a little quiet this week, but the game publishers and homebrew devs certainly held the Nintendo blog up considerably.
