Homebrew coder FluBBa has released a new version of S8DS, a port of the SEGA 8-bit emulator SMSAdvance for the NIntendo DS. The latest update has added some new features and some other bug fixes.

For this offering of our weekly recap, we see a resurgence of all sorts in the gaming industry. Finally we see a PS3 kicking ass in the sales charts, finally we see another big homebrew breakthrough for the PSP, and finally, it looks like things are definitely looking up for the videogame world in general. It is certainly looking like it's gonna be a happy holidays we're having this year.

DS homebrew developer FluBBa is back with the latest update for his emulator, the S8DS v0.3. To those who have yet to hear of this project, it's basically a port of SMSAdvance to the NDS, and is a Sega emulator for the said handheld.

Mention Shenmue III to any Shenmue fan and you'll probably get one of two reactions: a breakdown followed by uncontrollable sobbing or a vicious and expletive -filled rant against Sega. While that series doesn't seem to be getting any closure anytime soon, series protagonist Ryo Hazuki is making a comeback of sorts. In Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, no less.

Sonic fans are a dedicated lot. No matter the depths recent Sonic games have sunk to, they're still there, waiting for the spiky speedster to race back into glory. There are also the very few who take their dedication to new heights -- fans like Rich Kuta, who is actually making a feature-length animated Sonic film.

We've seen the release schedule for Wii and its accompanying WiiWare service, so now let's turn the spotlight on Nintendo's market-dominating handheld. Could it be? Sega has finally listened to the clamor of their loyal Sonic fans? The hedgehog-loving publisher has now announced that they will be rolling out an all-new Sonic title for 2010 -- in 2D.

With GamesCom out of the way, there's still another big gaming event on the calendar: the Tokyo Game Show. For this year's TGS, Sega will be showing off a pretty balanced lineup that includes handheld sequel Valkyria Chronicles 2, the PS3 and Xbox 360 RPG End of Eternity, and PS3 exclusive Yakuza 4.

Sega is back to teasing new games again. Recently, they've opened up another teaser site which, judging by the URL, seems to be for a new RPG title. More after the jump.
