Naruto - Image 1We all know how big the Naruto manga, anime and gaming franchise is in Japan, but here's what we just found out: The loud ninja will debut his latest games in New York later this month and he plans to do it in style.

Naruto: Clash of the Ninja Revolution for the Nintendo Wii and Naruto: Path of the Ninja for the Nintendo DS will launch on October 27th in North America and all eyes will be on the Nintendo World Store in New York when it happens at exactly 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

According to the day's plans, there will be a ramen-eating contest featuring some of the world's greatest gastronomic gladiators in an intense face-off. Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS stations will also be allotted to participants of a fighting game tournament. Finally, there will be a raffle to give away one-of-a-kind items like an engraved Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS.

As a special treat to the Naruto faithful, the first 1,500 attendees wearing the trademark Naruto forehead protectors will get special gifts. Makes us wonder what they'll give people with sharingan contact lenses.

Mario Family Figures - Image 1

If you're one of the many Nintendo or Mario die-hard fans, there's something currently on eBay which you'll probably drown yourself drooling over. It's a Mario Family figure set autographed by no less than Nintendo main man Shigeru Miyamoto himself!

The set isn't only signed, Miyamoto even wrote some text blurbs to make the set all the more candid. He did this in his recent trip to New York City to visit the Nintendo World Store there. As usual, the winner gets the honor of paying all the shipping expenses.

The bid is currently set at US$ 1,200 and rising. As usual, the winning bidder takes the responsibility of paying all the shipping expenses. It's a pricey  trinket, but every collector knows it's one of a kind and darn near priceless to them. The read URL takes you right to the bid page.

Father-Son day at Nintendo World Store - Image 1

A lot of families celebrate Father's Day in different ways. Regardless of what people do, it's a given that people celebrate and bond with a person that they hold dear, their father. For father and son gamers, what better way to spend the day together than playing a couple video games?

Apparently, Nintendo feels the same way and held a father and son event at the Nintendo World store in New York. This event called "Biggest Brain" had 30 contestants playing Big Brain Acadamy: Wii Degree in a bracket-style playoff format. The champions for the contest Rick and Michael Singer, walked away with a "hot Wii."

Interestingly enough, Rick Singer gave word that they just happened to be there. He said, "I asked my son to come to New York with me for Father's Day, but he said he'd only come if we could go to the Nintendo World store." They're probably both glad that they stopped by.

Thanks to Johnny Kolma and Go Nintendo, we've got a sneak peek of new DS Lite goodness now available in Nintendo World New York. A whole new palette of DS Lite colors are now available, and we can see that they have a funkier shade of pink (Fuchsia) available for the DS, as well as a cool metallic bronze. Since we can't see the display rack for the colored DS Lites in full, we can expect to see more colors than what are in the pictures - which now begs the question, "Where's the green DS?"

Nintendo World can also have a design engraved onto your DS Lite for US$ 20. It'd be nice to use a design of your own choice, but according to Johnny, you can only choose a design from Ninty World's brochure. The one with Donkey Kong looks really neat, though.

And finally, it looks like Ninty World has a collectible statue of Fierce Deity Link in stock. Extremely limited (only 2,500 pieces available worldwide!), these babies have a suggested retail price of US$ 129.99. The Fierce Diety Link statues are 14.5 inches tall, and are cast in high quality poly-stone.

For those who haven't heard of the Nintendo World Store, it's essentially a place that sells licensed Nintendo merchandise. Located at the Rockefeller Center where the Pokemon Center used to be (it's now a part of the NWS) the place showed off a huge selection of apparel that might just appeal to the gamer in you.

Fans of Link will be pleased to note that the place has several shirts of the Legend of Zelda icon. Other clothes they are offering include prints of Mario, Yoshi, and the Gameboy, and slogans including the infamous "Just one more level" shirt for the hardcore gamer in you. Other items for sale at the store also include special DS cases made of Swarovski crystals and accessories to complete the ensemble.

While visiting the place, you might as well drop by and see the exhibits which is said to include a Gameboy which survived the Gulf War, the prototype for the NES and even Hanafuda cards which Nintendo was originally producing.

Pokemon Fans Unite! - Image 1

It looks like Nintendo will be pulling out all the stops in its attempts to maintain Pokemon's hold on the children of the future. To commemorate the April 22nd release of Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl in the United States, Nintendo will be holding a pika-party for poke-fans everywhere, with over 5000 of them expected to attend the event at Nintendo's World Store.

In addition to fun games and activities for kids, interactive game stations will be available for CCG fans to try out the latest installments of Pokemon video and card game series. A special movie lounge will also be set up for people to watch the latest Pokemon movie, called "Pokemon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea."

Of course, what would a launch be without the actual product? Attendees will be the first people in the US to have their hands on the American version of the game, and will be treated to a special Pokeball scavenger hunt that will see lucky winners getting even more free stuff from Nintendo. For parents reading QJ, that's going to be on April 22, from 1 p.m. to 5p.m. at the Nintendo World Store at Rockerfeller center. Enjoy!

Swarovski DS lite cases at Nintendo World Store in New York - Image 1 Swarovski DS lite cases at Nintendo World Store in New York - Image 2

At New York">Nintendo World Store in New York City, they have some really unique DS lite skins on display. They have colored crystal covers for the DS lite which is studded with Swarovski crystals.

In the past, we posted an article showing a "plain" Swarovski studded case, but now, even THAT case can't compare to having a Swarovski case with Mario, Yoshi, or Link on it. For the Nintendo afficionado, there is also a case with the Nintendo World logo on it, in case you can't decide which character to have on your DS exterior (too bad not all designs are for sale, though). However, we need to point out that the photos from Go Nintendo show that these cases are selling for US$ 600 each, so it's a pretty pricey accessory for your DS (its got the price of a PS3!).

All in all, we're sure that there are some people who will be willing to invest their money in this. Well, if we had that much money, then we'd probably buy a few for ourselves, too. Oh well.

DS Lite Body Armor

For the lot of us who would like to keep our DS Lites shiny and new for as long as possible, the Japanese have again come up with a solution for that dilemma (they love their DS Lites a lot).

Manufactured by the Japanese company Hori, this set of protective covers for your DS Lite is built in such a way that after slipping it onto your unit, the card slots, the volume control and all other features on the exterior of the DS remains accessible.

The protector is also lined with a foamy material on the inside as well as at the corners so that you don't end up scratching your own DS Lite while you put the protector into place. You also don't have to worry about the bulkiness of your DS since the protector fits snugly and adds only 30 grams to the total weight.

This item can be ordered from the manufacturer's site and sells for 1029 Yen (around $8). It also comes in white, navy blue and light blue.

The World of Nintendo!!

Ever wondered what goodies this Nintendo paradise might have? Well, thanks to gamer-tourist El Chibo, those who can't afford the trip to New York will now have a chance to have a glimpse of the Nintendo World Store. Hopefully, the pictures that we have here might convince some fans out there to save up for the trip and trek over to the Big Apple for your not-so-typical sightseeing session. Some of the most interesting features that can be found will be the unique designs of modded DS Lites and GameBoys and a charred, half-melted GameBoy that was found in the middle of the Gulf War which is still in working condition. Don't believe us? Then watch the video that our tourist has taken which shows the said burnt GameBoy playing Tetris.

So, plug in that Utada Hikaru playlist in your MP3 player and let's go for a ride!
