SNES on your DS - Image 1A few months after our last report, SNEmulDS roars to life! Although it is still in version 0.3, it now has DLDI support. Just to give you a quick background as to what in heaven's name are we talking about, SNEmulDS is a Super Nintendo Nes emulator for the Nintendo DS. It is partially based on SNEmul, a SNES emulator for DOS and Linux, which was the brainchild of archeide & v0x.

Now back to 0.3 with Dynamically Linked Device Interface (DLDI). The recent release is now compatible with a wide array of devices such as:
  • DSLink (microSD Card)
  • Ewin2 (SD Card)
  • EZ Flash 4 (SD Card)
  • EZ Flash 5 (SD Card)
  • G6 Flash (version 0.15)
  • M3 Adapter (Compact Flash)
  • M3 Adapter (SD card)
  • Max Media Dock (Compact Flash)
  • GBA Movie Player (Compact Flash)
  • GBA Movie Player (SD Card)
  • NEO Flash MK2 & MK3 (SD Card)
  • NEO2 (SD Card)
  • Ninja DS (SD Card)
  • R4(DS)- Revolution for DS, M3 Simply compatible
  • SuperCard (Compact Flash)
  • SuperCard DS (Slot-1)
  • SuperCard (SD Card)
The developer also added that "you can patch SNEmulDS.nds to support others devices as long as those device have been made compatible with the DLDI system. So you should visit this site regularly for updates, if your device is not supported by SNEmulDS yet!" If you're having problems with it, don't hesitate to tell what's wrong in the comments section, the dev would appreciate that.

No, this isn't a screenshot, but the Neo Flash penguins are cute anyway. ^^The Neo team just made an update over at the Neo Flash forums, and it's about the NEO2-SD/TF Menu v1.2 beta release. Dr. Neo says that some memory bugs have been fixed, and it supports more games like Pokemon, so you might want to check it out. We're hosting it here, so you don't have to worry about looking for a particular site to download the said update *winks*.

Aside from the memory bug fix and more game support, we didn't notice other modifications in this one. If you notice something that we're missing out, please do let us know.

Some of the forum members mentioned freezing and saving problems, so you might want to take note of that, too. Of course, there are others who attest to the opposite, like dratersnis who says that he "hasn't noticed any freezing at all yet", or sven, who applauds the Neo team for making the update "a day after the testers' release".

n64demoHeads up! The Neo Flash Team 2006 creates a buzz on their new creation for the Neo Project with Neo Myth N64. Neo Myth N64 demo menu V0.1 is still in its early version and doesn't support background yet. One comment that it runs on his N64 just fine using a Doctor V64. It utilizes neo2 serial flash cart. Bu there is no clear date for as for when is the release of it, yet.

So far, here are the specs:
* Support ALL N64 console, all in one solution
* Support Multi-Roms,use menu to select the game on your TV screen
* Support SRAM save function
* Use USB linker to burn, very easy and fast to download the files
* Flash size from 128Mb up to 1Gb

The Neo Myth N64 is still a "work in progress" so its something to look forward to. We will keep you updated on this for future developments.

MK4-MiniJassen Payen has recently reviewed NeoTeam's MK4-Mini and MK4-Key for the Nintendo DS. NeoTeam are mostly known for their DS/DS Lite and PSP products, which provide all manner of solutions for your gaming and/or developing needs. Examples of products that they have created include the Neo 2-in-1 Converter (including 4gb Microdrive), and the Neo 8-in-1 PSP Pad.

On the DS side, NeoTeam has concentrated on providing solutions for budding developers with their NeoFlash range of products. These products allow users to run insigned code from regular SD/CF based memory cards, inevitably providing a pathway for users/coders to test out their own homebrew games, backups, and applications.

The MK4-Mini and the MK4-Key are nearly identical to each other. Dimensionally, they measure in at the same numbers. The only difference between them is the color, and a slight discrepancy in description. The MK-4 Mini has EEPROM, which allows users to save DS save files directly to the MK4-Mini cart. The MK4-Key, on the other hand, does not have any EEPROM, so users have to rely on saving their DS saves straight to their flashcard/SD/CF. Payen notes that for those who use popular flashcards, such as Supercard and M3, this is not a problem. There have been, however, some known issues with regular GBA Flashcards that require saving to a DS cart. Other than this, both products essentially do the same thing.

Payen cites the ability to boot directly into GBA or DS modes as one of the positive points of the products. Both are small, both do not require original 'donor' DS cartridges, and there's no programming required. The MK4-Mini and the Mk4-Key consume very little power, and can increase battery life when compared to big PassMe/PassKeys. They also work on all NDS and DS Lite variations, have a working sleep mode, are compatible with all kinds of flashcards, and have exceptional build quality and packaging. These babies also come in different colors to match your DS Lite.

Payen didn't really give out a complete negative in his review, but was still hoping for a possible complete MK4-Mini with an integrated memory slot and loading support like the NinjaDS, but with the same compact size.

Neo2 Serial Loader

Team Neo Flash has been on a roll lately. After parading their recent innovations such as NEO MD 3in1 flash cart that can support up to 1GB of NEO2 serial and announcing to the whole world what the specs of their monster creations - NEO2-TF and the NEO2-SD flash carts - are. They are releasing pictures of the demo screen of one of their babies-- the Neo2 Serial Loader. The screen has a Matrix feel to it which is really awesome, but somehow the awesome-looking background makes the text hard to read. But nonetheless, this is quite a feat, so feel free to look at them screens.

neo2-tf - Image 1 neo2-tf - Image 2 neo2-tf - Image 3

Team Neo Flash, the maker of many accessory, uber-fashionable case mods (have you seen their delish-looking ice blue DS Lite case?) and peripheral products for PSP, GBA, DS and, of course, the DS Lite, is just about ready with their newest hardware mod for the Nintendo DS.

Now on its final stages, the Neo Flash is about to unveil their 'no sticking out' DS flash cart adapter. The NEO2-TF flash cart adapter is designed for the Sandisk Micro TransFlash (TF) Memory Modules of up to 4GB. With the NEO2-TF flash cart adapter DS gamers who can only load up to 128mbit games can now play larger games. It can also accomodate the MK4-TF although a small part (the TF part) will stick out a little. But that only makes it easier to pull out the card so DS gamers who are genetically incapable of growing fingernails will appreciate that.

The hardware itself is complete, according to Neo Flash, all that's needed is the case which will be in Ice Blue and Navy Blue flavors. Exact date of availability and pricing will be announced later.

neoNeo Flash, the maker of many accessory and peripheral products for handheld devices that include the PSP, GBA, DS and DS Lite, is making another foray into the handheld accessory market.

The Neo2 Movie Player is a device designed for use with GBA flash carts and SD cards that allows users to view movies and shows like 'Lost' on Nintendo handhelds that use those storage formats, like the DS.

Not much information has been released about the price or what the device will look like, but Neo Flash has a reputation for producing well designed gadgets that do what they were designed to do.

If Neo Flash releases a product that is in line with its past releases the results should be interesting to say the least. However, with so many other gadgets already available that allow you to get video on a Nintendo handheld, I do have some reservations about whether or not this product is going to spark a lot of interest.
