NES controller - Image 1Nothing says "gamer inside" on your front door like having a NES controller for a doorbell. In this unrevealed gamer home, a NES controller was modded into a wireless doorbell, giving visitors an added treat when coming over. Video inside.

Nintendo Weekend Warrior - Image 1This week's recap features a wide variety of news - from a TV spot, self-mutilation, pastries, and even sandwich bags trying to pass off as DSi accessories. While it's not the most gaming-dense rundown we've had, it certainly makes up for it with some amusement. Read on for the Nintendo Weekend Warrior.

NES Controller - Image 1After 8 years and 12 piercings, BME user metal_games wants to move on to other forms of art he can apply to his body. But instead of going down the tattoo road, this guy opted to go for scarification, wherein you intentionally scar yourself to create a pattern or an image. The interesting bit here is that the design isn't what you usually see - it's the image of the NES controller. For the squeamish, the pics may not be too suitable for you guys.

Think we can ask her to make us one?

We never fail to be amazed at just what fans can produce when it comes to their consoles of choice. Be it a good homebrew application or game, to Mario or console-themed wedding cakes, these guys are just oozing of love for their games, and we can't help but get caught up in the giddiness.

So, in the spirit of Christmas, as well as a way to show just how much she loves her Pink DS Lite which she got for Christmas, sakuramaki created this case to keep her brand-new handheld safe and sound. And for those who are feeling a bit inspired and now want to make their own, here's how she did it:

it was created using pieces of plastic canvas cut to shape, onto which i cross stitched a pattern resembling an NES controller, which were then stitched together - the inside is linked with a very appropriate pink polka dot felt, and the case is sealed with strips of velcro.

Now excuse us while we start taking cross-stitch lessons.

final productGot a couple of NES controllers lying around your house (I know I have 4-5 in my house) and you just don't know what to do with them? Well if you still want to get some use out of them you can always tweak them a bit and put some LEDs in them.

Putting in LEDS is pretty simple, all you'll need are the following:
  • A drill
  • 2 LEDs (more if you want to try and mod each input)
  • 2 100ohm resistors (more if you want to try and mod each input)
  • A small length of wire
  • Soldering skills.
Now all this stuff is pretty easy to come by (just go to radioshack). If you want to give it a try just read on for the instructions.

This is really interesting and very easy. Check out these simple how-to:

1. First of all, solder a 100ohm resistor to the positive end of the LED. Then solder some wire to the LED and the resistor, preferably black to the LED (negative) red to the resistor (positive).

If you miss your NES days so much, you can bring its controller with you wherever you are and even use it whenever you like. How, you say? Make it into a cellphone like what Sam Garfield did.

Using a Nokia 3200, Sam removed the phone's case and used everything inside to place inside the NES controller's case. This was easy to do as the 3200 has interchangeable face plates.

Here are some photos of the NES Controller Cell Phone. You can follow the link to see how to make your own NES controller mobile phone. (It's not as hard as you might think it is.)
