More info abound the latest upcoming title in the Need for Speed franchise, Need for Speed: ProStreet in this developer interview. Here, Matt Little sits down to talk about what's going into the game and what they've done to distinguish it from today's Forzas, Gran Turismos and Burnouts.

It seems that the developers, Matt Little specifically, wanted the raw feeling of drifting one's car at speeds of more than 90 miles per hour, instead of the usual 40-50 mph we see often. Drag racing is also built into the game, and Matt promises that it's going to be deeper and more involving than in the past game, as well as being more intense.

Three major draws for the game also came up in the interview - namely, the game skirting the edge between arcade and realistic driving, car damage and tire smoke. While the latter two are pretty much self-explanatory, the former is a little bit more complex. Matt explains that Need For Speed: ProStreet's driving style can't be quantified by saying it's closer to Gran Turismo or to Burnout, but another niche entirely. He elaborates by saying that it will have that realistic feel, but also have the arcade sensation by which it's accessible to almost anyone who picks up the controller to play it.

Need for Speed: ProStreet is definitely looking good. Enjoy the video.

Indianapolis 500 Legends - Image 1

Destineer has announced that it is bringing some old-school racing action to Nintendo systems in the form of Indianapolis 500 Legends, a new title for both the Wii video game console and the DS handheld system.

In Indianapolis 500 Legends, players assume the roles of 30 of the sport's most daring real-life legends as they draft, dodge and slingshot through the tracks on a hand-built 1960s speed machine that hits speeds of nearly 180 mph, yet rides only 7 inches off the ground.

Players can choose to get behind the wheels of the last of the front-engine roadsters or experiment with the first turbine cars. Players can also customize their machines and strap on the earliest sets of bolt-on wings. Unlockables include Indy memorabilia, and there are also pit stop mini games that utilize the Wiimote and the DS stylus.

Indianapolis 500 Legends is slated for release this holiday season. The Wii version will be available for US$ 49.99 while its DS counterpart will have a price tag of US$ 29.99.

If you're like Kevin, you probably love dropping by Nintendo's WiFi website but hate all that flash-based SFX. We can totally understand Kevin's frustration with the flash-heavy site. And we applaud him for doing something about it - he wrote a Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Status Viewer for the PC and called it the WFCStatus. His latest version of WFCStatus is 1.1 build 26 and it has the following features:
  • Global Wi-Fi Gaming Service Status
  • Gamehub Online Status ( MPH, TDS, ACWW, MKDS, LM, THAS)
  • Overall Gaming Stats (Top 5 Most Active & Player Logins)
  • Gamehub Player Stats (Top 5 Most Active & Player Logins)
  • Now Online! Showing 20 random online gamers
  • Metroid Prime Hunters License
  • Last 20 Tetris DS Scores
  • Easy Errorcode Submit
If you have WFCStatus is 1.1 build 24, the changes in the build 26 includes:
  • Added feature "last 20 tetris scores"
  • Fixed MP:Hunters License missing Favorite Hunter
  • Fixed login data showing decimals
If you haven't tried this before, unzip the file and run setup.exe to install. It requires .NET 2.0, by the way.
