This DS homebrew from LiraNuna is a demo demonstrating the ease of use
of the DS for blending and creating impressive effects almost
effortlessly. According to the dev, this project has actually been in
his HDD since Halloween, and it's only now that he's been able to dig
it up.
Why is the Halloween bit relevant? You'll know after the jump.Download: NDS Blending Demo |

Tales of Dagur, one of the best homebrew DS games ever, has just received an update. Nope, LiraNuna didn't go on a coding spree and add a few more hours' worth of gameplay (although that would be one of our dreams come true). Instead, the update focuses on the game's source code.It had come to LiraNuna's attention that Tales of Dagur's source code didn't work with the latest devkitPro, so a fixed version of the source code is now out and ready for your downloading pleasure. For those who would like to know what exactly has been changed, here's the changelog:

As part of Evoke 2006, TiTAN
released a DS demo and acquired 4th place among the competitors. This was quite
an honor for the team as LiraNuna had recently joined the ranks of the
demogroup, and has put his skills to the ultimate test. This remarkable demo showed
the full extent of the DS's full power as LiraNuna and Blasty could possibly deliver
with the DS. With the help of Gencha working the graphics and Strobe working
the musical end of the demo, it truly turned out to be a NDS masterpiece.
So, you are probably wondering what makes this so impressive - I'm sure you all
are! The main astonishment of this demo is the fact that it is under 256kbs (in
size)! For those who are not as coding-conscience as some of us, that's very small for this demo! A demo of this caliber would usually round out at about 3 times the
size! The demo really speaks for itself in the quality and delivery - so download it now, or just watch the
video below (I recommend downloading it and trying it on your NDS). Download: [LMNTS DS Demo - Evoke 2006] |

I had the pleasure to ask LiraNuna a few questions regarding both DS and PSP Homebrew development after having heard that he was leaving the DS scene, and joining the PSP scene. This departure of the DS scene came after making a "discovery", something of which LiraNuna will still not share with us. The issue is not our business anyways, whether it be a personal reason or not - every person deserves his/her own privacy. Recently, another website interviewed the coding giant, and you can read all about that interview here. It covers several crucial questions relating to the PSP scene and LiraNuna's future involvement. I tried to cover most of those questions that were not answered in e-MSC's interview to prevent from repetition. You can view the entire interview after the jump where LiraNuna talks about how he got into developing, and his future plans! |

LiraNuna has just released v1.2.1 of his WonderSwan emulator dualSwan. According to him this will be the final release of this emulator. This version of dualSwan comes with added support for M3SD and SCSD. Although these features are untested LiraNuna says, "it should work, as chishm’s FAT library does." Try it out for yourself. There are some good games released for the WonderSwan and the WonderSwan Color, including the first installment of Front Mission, a series of Super Robot Taisen games, and Guilty Gear Petit. The change log is as follows:

Give homebrew developer DragonMinded a few days and he will come up with an update to his homebrew app for the Nintendo DS, DSOrganize. Before, we have featured beta versions of his work and now thanks to your comments, observations, and inquiries he has released DSOrganize v2.01 -- this one ain't a beta anymore.Just a quick recap of what this app can do, the DSOrganize turns your DS into a calendar, address book, day planner and sci calculator with hand writing recognition, file browser and multi-language support. Perfect for the busy executive who moonlights as a DS fanboy. Anyways, DragonMinded has a few reminders to this app's future users, he reminds you to "please be sure to only use the executable type for your particular card, and be sure to unzip the entire directory structure to your card properly, or certain pages will not save properly." With that here is the changelog. Changelog: * Added new fields to homebrew database: date, version, size of package. * Reverted from eabi back to r17 due to regresses: o Fixed .xm crash regress. o Fixed supercard boot failure crash. o Possibly fixed crash relating to ani gif files. * Improved key responsiveness on module player. * Fixed issue with shoutcast url's with no trailing / not loading properly. * Changed fat lib to rein r15 modified. Hopefully this works with M3 SD. * Fixed transparency issue with NDS file icons (Thanks LiraNuna). * Fixed issue with nds icon for dsorganize having bad transparency. * Changed file code to allow icons/descriptions for .sd.nds and .ds.gba files. * Fixed cursor bug in text editor with page down and files less than 11 lines long. * Homescreen highlights last app used when exiting back to it. * Fixed a bug relating to pressing y while hilighting a .ini file in browser. * Allowed homescreen customization, edit in the .ini for now. * Fixed minor bug with copying file then creating a new file without pasting. * Changed the way alternate browser modes function. * Added click to edit on calendar and day planner. * Fixed a weird bug with homebrew database scrolling. * Added setting for DD/MM/YY display. * Added setting to enable or disable second tap action. * Added setting to change the html renderer for better compatiblity. * Upgraded to latest tcplib, hopefully this fixes more issues. The good developer also wants to extend his thanks to the several dedicated members in the homebrew community for their help and libraries, without which according to him, DSOrganize would not exist. And as always, feel free to speak out about your comments, observations, and criticisms so as to improve this app. Download: [DSOrganize 2.01] |

LiraNuna, one of the DS's greatest developers, has released a new version of his WonderSwan emulator. Wonderswan was once a competitor of the original Gameboy in Japan, and showcased graphics of equal quality. The WonderSwan came originally without color, but a color version was introduced a year after the WonderSwan release. LiraNuna has released this great handheld onto another great handheld, the Nintendo DS. The most recent version to this date of the emulator does not feature sound, and can not play games larger than 4mb. Although, from the previous release, LiraNuna is proud to say that some games are running full speed! LiraNuna is still hard at work to improve the emulation, and has already placed a lot of time into the development process of this! Here's the official change log for this version (v1.2) -

It's a good thing developers never tire of coming up with good stuff. LiraNuna, developer of the game Tales of Dagur, has posted the progress of the latest development of his WonderSwan emulator called the dualSwan.
The WonderSwan is a Japanese handheld game console released in 1999 by Bandai. With the dualSwan, you'll be able to play WonderSwan games in your Nintendo DS. How cool is that? Here are some screenshots to show the progress of this emulator. You can see that the FPS on the screenshots are close to that of the original results on the HW. Dualis refuses to emulate full speed so another ~6FPS had to be added to get the original results on the real HW. According to the developer, low FPS on games occur because of the poor core implementation of NEC CPU. But he says not to worry as this will be fixed soon.

LiraNuna, maker of WonDerS v1.1 which allows you to play WonderSwan games in your Nintendo DS, has said before that he's in the process of rewriting WonDerS and gave us some screenshots to tease us on its upcoming release. As of late, he has posted yet another teaser for us on his site. He is going to release two new special builds - one without any speed limits and the other with a 60FPS limit - that emulates the Japanese handheld that was quite popular back in 1999. To compete with then market leader in Japan's gaming market, Nintendo's Game Boy Color, Bandai released the handheld game console WonderSwan in 1999. Developed by original Nintendo Game Boy developer Gunpei Yokoi, the WonderSwan later on evolved to WonderSwan Color. This console has already been ported by LiraNuna into the Nintendo DS with WonDerS v1.1. LiraNuna has currently been rewriting his WonderSwan emulator, using the DS' HW instead of "some crappy framebuffer renderer". Currently, there are 4bit tiles implemented in the emulator and resulted to more than 120% speed boost. LiraNuna is still in the process of the rewrite and will be releasing the new WonDerS version soon. In the meantime, he leaves us with these screenshots to "tease" us.
