In an official announcement made not later than today, Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH revealed that the company's Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 will be featuring none other than Michael Owen, English striker and one of Newcastle United's pride and glory, on both the packaging (UK specific) and the promotional materials for the game.Together with Cristiano Ronaldo, Owen will be combining image and skill on the UK packshots of Pro Evolution Soccer's latest installment. Barring any critical opinion of his choice for Newcastle over Liverpool, Owen still keeps a reputation level with his 178 league goals, 37 of which were for England. "Securing Michael Owen is a real coup for Konami. Since he burst on to the scene, he has proven himself an incredible goal-scorer, netting at every level both domestic and international," said Jon Murphy, Team Leader for Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 at Konami. Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 will be heading to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Windows PC over DVD, PS2, PSP and Nintendo DS by fall of 2007, featuring Konami's new Teamvision artificial intelligence system for dynamic and real-time play. |

Konami has announced the details for the 2007 Yu-Gi-Oh! video game tournament that will be held at the Comic-Con International Consumer Expo in San Diego, Calif. on July 28th. If you're a fan of the cartoon series, card game, or video game and live within the area, you won't want to miss this.So far, eight players have been selected from a nationwide online contest will be compete in this event for the US championship. However, no word yet whether it will be Swiss-style or simple single elimination matches. The top four will be advancing to the world championship on the 29th at the same venue where they will get a chance to win the world title. The competitors will be using the Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2007 video game for the Nintendo DS in the competition. Associate Product Manager at Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. Wyman Yung shared his thoughts on this. Yu-Gi-Oh! is one of Konami’s most recognized properties, and we are giving back to the game’s dedicated community with a tournament that lets players test their skills and meet other duelists from around the country. The Comic-Con Expo in San Diego is the perfect venue for us to crown our U.S. and World finalists, letting them compete and take part in the Yu-Gi-Oh! festivities with duelists from all around the world. What decks will we see dominating in the competition? Hopefully, we'll be seeing more original decks than the more common beatdown rush builds or the direct damage control that have been consistently winning games. It would also be pretty cool if some of the players cos-played for the tournament, but that might be a bit awkward. |

And the battle for the best soccer video game title continues. It
should be remembered that it was just recently that Electronic Arts
announced FIFA 08 for various platforms. Today, Konami Digital Entertainment unwrapped the covers on the latest iteration of its own soccer franchise, Pro Evolution Soccer 2008.
It will be available on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, Nintendo DS, and Games for Windows platforms. One of the more interesting features of this title include the Konami-developed AI system called Teamvision. Basically, this programming learn new ways to build attacks and to counter specific movements and to learn from previous attacking or defensive errors. This means that the system adapts to an individual's style of play. Creator of the series and producer of PES 2008 Shingo "Seabass" Takatsuka mentioned that their team took the time to figure out what makes the Pro Evolution Soccer franchise so popular, and they started from there. He explained: With the new Teamvision AI system, we truly believe that we have elevated the game to a new level. The movement of players off the ball, coupled with the total control given to the player, creates the closest simulation of real football to date. We really hope everyone enjoys our evolution. I promise it will be worth the wait. Konami added that fans can get their hands on Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 starting this autumn.
