It's the first issue of the Weekend Warrior for the DS, and what do we have in store for you guys? Sure, the DS handheld isn't too busy nowadays, but we still have something in the form of a bunch of funny homebrew creations, and some good new game releases. The Japan software sales figures are in and it looks like Sega's Yakuza 3: Kenzan! has been displaced from the number one slot as Nintendo's DS Beautiful Letter Training enters the fray. If you've been following the sales charts, you'll notice that there are quite a number of changes in the rankings although fan favorites such as Wii Fit are still holding their own against the newcomers. It looks like the reign of Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. Brawl has finally come to an end according to the software sales numbers from Media Create in Japan. You can check out the top 10 software titles in Japan as well as the new chart topper this week in the full article.

Video game developer and publisher Koei has announced that it will be restructuring in order to better serve both the Western and Asian video game markets. This move has effectively split the company into two divisions, allowing it to focus on the needs and wants of gamers in specific regions. For more on this, head on over to the full article.

The year's next batch of releases are here, and from the looks of it, games are picking up. Unlike last time, a good chunk of new titles for Nintendo's platforms compose this week's list. PC gamers fret not, because a few including a next-gen train simulator is heading to their gaming machine. Oh, and there's something for PSP owners too. Media Create has released the Japan video game sales figures from November 5 to November 11. Nintendo is once again taking top honors with four of their games breaking the top ten list.

Mario Party DS took the top slot in the rankings with 235,000 units sold followed by Koei's Shin Sangoku Musou 5 for the PlayStation 3 and Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii which moved 188,000 and 74,000 copies respectively. Click on the "read more" link below for more details.

  

Can you hear it? This week, the games are calling you to arms! Whether you'd rather pick up something state-of-the-art from Activision's Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, swords and spears from Nintendo's Fire Emblem: Dawn, light sabers and blasters from LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga, or even household items from Silent Hill: Origins, there's definitely something to recruit you away from last week's releases.

If leading armies into war is your thing, have a look at Koei's Bladestorm: The Hundred Years' War or Sierra Entertainment's Empire Earth III. For lighthearted fun, Sega and Nintendo are offering Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, and Square Enix has Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker. You get the drill - this week is big, and November is just beginning.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. The much anticipated first-person shooter which almost needs no introductions is hitting the shelves this week. Over 70 advanced authentic weapons are at your disposal in tactical combat layered with outstanding visuals and mind-blowing sounds.

Japanese videogame studio Koei just revealed their full lineup of titles that they'd be showcasing during the upcoming Tokyo Game Show. Their lineup spans the major platforms, plus a little serving for the DS crowd. Sadly, no PSP title is in the list. Check it out:

Though it was already announced some few months ago, Shin Sangoku Musou 5 (AKA Dynasty Warriors 6) hasn't gotten that much media coverage yet. Let's hope that the TGS will give us some juicy info about it, plus more screens and videos to boot.

This week could very well strip your pockets empty, no thanks to all the hot titles coming to various platforms. One of Sony's biggest upcoming PlayStation 3 games, Heavenly Sword, will descend to the powerhouse console a few days from now. Colin McRae: DiRT is also finally racing its way to the Sony PS3.

Get ready to get physical as Electronic Arts unleashes NHL '08 face-to-face against 2K Games' NHL 2K8. Tony Hawk's biggest contender, Skate, is also set to grind its way to the shelves. Meanwhile, fans of Bethesda's latest RPG will soon have more reasons to burn hours with Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Game of the Year Edition.

Heavenly Sword. Ninja Theory's highly anticipated game exclusive to the PS3, published by Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE), is finally hitting the shelves. God of War's Kratos meets his match in Nariko, this action title's female protagonist. As most of us know, Heavenly Sword is an epic tale of revenge that puts players in the shoes of a young woman who wields a legendary sword to avenge her warrior clan.

NHL '08. Electronic Arts is back with another installment to the long-running ice hockey franchise. This season is loaded with new features, introducing Skill Stick Moments and an all-new skating engine. Enemy AI also improved a notch, making way for challenging single player matches. With leagues, shootout, versus play, and team play now available as online game modes, hooking up to the net seems the best way to go.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Game of the Year Edition. For everyone else who already invested hours on their characters, it's still a very attractive deal. New quests, areas to explore, and enemies to conquer are too good to miss.
