Nintendo has circulated a press release chronicling the latest news in its ongoing battle against piracy. According to the press release, the Hong Kong High Court ordered the raid of facilities owned by Supreme Factory Limited earlier this month at Nintendo's request. The raid turned up more than 10,000 game copying devices and mod chips used to play pirated Nintendo software. The seized copying devices were used mostly for pirating Nintendo DS games. The mod chips were mostly for use in Nintendo's Wii home video game console. Documents found at the raid site connected Supreme Factory Limited to French company Divineo SARL. Divineo SARL and its principal, Max Louarn, have also been named in the legal action initiated by Nintendo. |

As gamers everywhere await the series of launches of the next-gen
consoles, a lull in the gaming industry has been noted by game company
executives, and in an effort to get through the so-called calm before
the storm, they have now turned their attention to one of the
possibly-neglected demographic: the female gamers. In a male-dominated industry, things are starting to change. Where in the past, female characters in games were typecasted as buxom sidekicks in skimpy clothing who were, more than anything, there for decoration at the big, gun-toting action hero's side, producers are starting to put the BFGs down and talk about the importance of a good storyline, solid characters, and the inclusion of depth and emotion in their games. One key topic that was discussed at the recent Edinburgh Entertainment Interactive Festival last month was the need to recruit more women in the business. David Gardner, the CEO of Electronic Arts has also stated that "It's a massively underserved and overlooked segment of the market." He's not talking about making games that have ponies and rainbows and ribbons though, but instead "to make products that are more socially inclusive." More about female gamers after the jump! |

While surfing the net, we stumbled upon these colorful additions to your Nintendo DS Lite accessories, the Nintendo DS Lite pouches. These cute pouches look sturdy enough, or at least padded enough, to protect your beloved DS Lite when it's in your pocket, purse, or that humongous backpack of yours. It also comes with a small pocket for your memory cards. These also seem to be great for travelling, and are actually rather fashionable. As far as we can tell, it's available in six different colors - white, green, gray, black, pink and blue for whatever suits your color palate. The bag is made of nylon and can be ordered from its Hong Kong manufacturer for $3.35. It's out of stock at the moment, though. If you had this though, the only thing you'd need would be a case for your DS cartridges and/or supercards. |

Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam is the latest installment to the popular Tony Hawk franchise. This time around, the name of the game's head to head downhill racing. You'll be taking on the role of the Birdman himself or one of nine other characters and get to skate down some of the world's steepest terrains while doing tricks and trying to leave your opponents in the dust. Locations include San Francisco, Machu Picchu, and Hong Kong.
This game is being developed for the Nintendo DS by Vicarious Visions, who have honed their virtual skateboarding skills by adapting almost every previous Tony Hawk release for the Game Boy Advance. They have also worked on Tony Hawk's American Sk8land for the DS. The Nintendo DS version of Downhill Jam will have multiplayer support for up to 4 players using the DS's Wi-Fi connection. Tony hawk's Downhill Jam is also being developed for the Wii and the Game Boy Advance.
