EA Bright Light Studio in Guildford, UK has revealed their new IP exclusively for the DS, Zubo. It is a music-based rhythm-action game that is meant to target kids under 12. But of course we're sure grown-ups can enjoy this game as well. It's a lot like Patapon, essentially. If you wanna know why, and more about this game, then do read on after the jump. |

Harry Potter fans have a lot to look forward to in the coming months, as this July marks the release of the seventh and final installment in the insanely popular Harry Potter series of novels. The big screen adaptation of the fifth book, The Order of the Phoenix, is also set for a theatrical release this summer, and a tie-in action game from Electronic Arts is also in the works. Of course, in a game based on the adventures of a wizard, magic is sure to be one of the main elements. In a recent interview with GameSpot, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix executive producer Harvey Elliot gave some insight on how the game's new gesture-based magic system works for the different platforms. Instead of button presses, magic will be executed by using each console's unique controls. "If you want to use "depulso" to push an object away from you, you press the right analog stick forward on the 360 and PS2, you push the Sixaxis controller away from you on the PS3, and, of course, you flick your "wand" away from you on the Wii," said Elliot. Similar gestures are also used in combat situations, and Elliot said that the team behind the Order of the Phoenix video game made sure that the gestures represent the action. "To cast a knockback jinx you tap up on the analog stick, or shove them backward with the Sixaxis or Wii Remote," said Elliot. "And each spell you find is upgraded as you discover secrets in the world." For the full interview, click on the "read" link below. |

If the video game hypes are to be believed, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix for Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation 3, DS and PlayStation Portable will be "the most immersive" game of the series yet. To give proof to this claim, Electronic Arts' (EA) Harvey Elliot - the game's executive producer - recently graced the IGN news room with an interview. Here's a rundown of what he revealed: For starters, a lot of people are wondering how faithful the game will be to its source material. Elliot has thankfully assured fans that the game will be completely accurate with regards to the movie. He spoke about the effort they have made along with the difficulties involved in pulling this off: Because such a large part of the movie is set in Hogwarts, we have gone to extreme lengths to recreate the locations from the movie in the game - perhaps more than any movie game ever. It started with us working with the movie team to construct a 3D virtual Hogwarts - getting their blue prints of the movie sets, going to the exterior locations with tape measurers and high-end digital cameras, and reviewing how these locations have been translated into the movies, poring over every detail. In keeping with the movie, he noted that they have also been constantly rechecking the movie sets and productions. This was done so that they could "ensure that [they] captured the elements in every room, courtyard and corridor." The full article awaits after the jump! |
