Harmonix, arguably the party most responsible for the rhythm game surge, thinks that this will stop in the future, but only because gamers won't even need a console to play rhythm games on.

See, when the game was officially announced yesterday, I was wondering how much humor and playfulness the Lego brand of gameplay would bring to the Rock Band setting. Don't look now, but LRB will have you going against giant enemy crabs robots, skyscrapers, and call up weather storms by sheer rock power.

The nominations are in, the tallying's over, and the GDC 09 Developers' Choice Awards have come and gone. The big winners this year were Fallout 3, which got the Game of the Year award, and LittleBigPlanet, which won in 4 different categories. Remember when Konami sued Harmonix over Rock Band (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii) for alleged patent infringements last year? Well, Harmonix and owner Viacom is fighting back with a counter-suit filed Wednesday.

Guitar Center, the world's largest musical instrument retailer recently announced the findings of their national survey. The survey shows that popular music titles Rock Band and Guitar Hero increase gamer interest to own and play actual instruments, instead of just the gaming peripherals. More details after the jump.
