Mobile phone and NDS owners may find common ground in this particular news bit, which pertains to SanDisk and their upcoming 6 and 8GB MicroSD High Capacity (microSDHC) flash cards. The manufacturer has just sent out word that they have begun sending out samples of both flash memory drives to major phone manufacturers and mobile network operators for testing and evaluation. Shipping is expected to begin late this year, although SanDisk has yet to announce the news card's expected retailer prices. For the mobile phone owners, the 8GB card will enable you to carry a total of 2,000 songs, or more than 5,000 pictures, or up to 5 hours of MPEG-4 videos. We also imagine the guys in the portable gaming scene will find this announcement uplifting, given that homebrew-enabling cards like CycloDS Revolution support the format. Games aside, that'll leave plenty of room for your comics, videos, images, and the ton of homebrew you'll need to keep all these files running properly. Keep posted in case the test results for SanDisk's upcoming microSDHC cards get released. |

Those of you who are in the market for R4 DS better watch out. Fakes have been floating in China and in online stores. It's a little hard to tell the real ones from the junk, but never fear, there's a way to separate the sheep from the goats.
The bootlegged ones allegedly have a little blue label signifying the memory capacity of the device. They may work just fine initially, but be warned that the flash memory used is cheap and of poor quality. The fakers used MK5/N-Card rip-offs that aren't as durable as the real ones. Also, you'll have no means of having the fake one replaced once it dies on you. Obviously, the real manufacturers won't replace stuff they didn't make. DS fans are reporting sightings of similar gear everywhere. To see the full discussion, follow the read URL and read the threads. |

Bernie Yee (Yee) stopped by our forums to inform us of his recently published review for the EZ4Lite Deluxe / Compact. The EZ4Lite was the first flashcart adapter for the Nintendo DS Lite. The EZ team have gone back to their product and redesigned it in an aspect, improving several flaws that were not taken care of for the first release. Some of the pluses of this flashcart include its cheap price, and great GBA support. However, it doesn't quite match up to the M3 Lite, but you are paying a lot less. So if price is an issue, this adapter might just be perfect for you! Read Yee's full review after the jump! |

The most anticipated DS flashcart of this fall was recently priced for European customers at Divineo's European website. This upcoming flashcart will retail for €99.95. We previously reported a price tag of 124.99$ for the North American market, and now we bring you this new price from Divineo! The DS-Xtreme flashcart will be released this fall and will revolutionize flashcart design. This summer we have beared witness to several DS-sized flashcarts such as the DS-Link (MicroSD adapter), Ultra Flash Pass, NinjaDS and many more DSL-specific flashcarts. The DS-Xtreme will feature 4gbit of internal flash memory (512mb) with a built-in USB-B port to allow quick transfers directly to the cart. The best thing about this cart - no PC software required. It features a drag-and-drop system that will allow you to run un-patched files! If a file is found to be incompatible, the DS-X team may release a quick firmware update to the DS-X flashcart to fix the problem, a very simple procedure to do! Also, it acts as a no-passs device so you can play it on any NDS, whether it be an old one or a brand new one! Pre-order: [Germany] Pre-order: [Spain] |

TheChuckster has updated his StellaDS Atari 2600 emulator for the Nintendo DS. I integrated chism's FAT file I/O library into StellaDS to add the much needed support for high capacity flash memory devices. Create a directory called stellads in the root directory of your device and stash all of your ROMs in there. No need to recompile to get new ROMs! The buggy, awkward GBFS approach is no longer in use. Also, the menu now supports a near-infinite amount of ROMs thanks to the wonders of std::vector. Scrolling beyond the list works now as well. Directory traversal has not yet been implemented, however, so don't try selecting the dotted file names at the beginning of the list. Included in the StellaDS download is a sample stellads ROM directory that you can copy onto your memory card to try out some free, public-domain Atari 2600 ROMs. Report any bugs to me via e-mail or on the forum, and have fun playing Adventure on your DS once again!
