The Japanese debut trailer for the latest Castlevania title, Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, is out, and it shows how much the new female protagonist Shanoa kicks ass both in the looks and strength department. But here's something else that's interesting about the Japanese debut trailer: it makes use of English voice acting and game title. What could it possibly hint? Check out the video in the full article. |

Back in October, Paul W.S. Anderson shared that production for the
long-planned Castlevania movie adaptation will soon go full swing. Prior to all this, it was believed that the story of the Castlevania
movie project will revolve around a knight from Transylvania hiding
from the Turkish Army in Dracula's castle. Well, you can all forget about that as the official plot of the movie has just been revealed. The plot after the jump! |

While giving way to Sylvain White as the director for the Castlevania movie adaptation, Paul W.S. Anderson remains part of the project as a producer. In a recent interview, Anderson shared that the Castlevania movie's shooting will likely begin in a couple of months. This is because they want the script to be done before the impending writer's strike. "I'm hoping to get a script for it in two or three weeks. And I'm hoping it's great. Sylvain White is directing it, and we're hoping to kind of make it a pre-strike movie. So it kind of shoots in the next couple months," said Anderson. It was reported a while ago that Rogue Pictures wanted a complete overhaul to the Castlevania script. According to earlier reports, the previous plot of the planned Castlevania movie revolved around a knight from Transylvania hiding from the Turkish Army in Dracula's castle. The video game franchise Castlevania from Konami first appeared in 1986 on the platform Famicom Disk System. |

A development has just happened for the upcoming movie adaptation of the successful video game franchise Castlevania. According to horror film website Bloody-Disgusting, Paul W.S. Anderson is no longer part of the project as the director "wanted to focus" on his remake of Death Race. What happens now to the movie Castlevania? According to the said website, the new director is going to be Sylvain White and the whole script is being revamped by Ian Jeffers. One of White's latest projects is the movie Stomp the Yard while Jeffers is mostly known for his adaptation of Death Sentence featuring the actor Kevin Bacon. It should be remembered that Paul W.S. Anderson mentioned back in March of this year that he will remain actively involved in the movie adaptation no matter what happens because he has grown attached to it. It is still unclear as of now whether Rogue Pictures would want to retain some of Anderson's ideas for Castlevania. To help you decide if this development is a good thing or not, be informed that part of Anderson's plot for the movie adaptation includes a knight from Transylvania hiding from the Turkish Army in Dracula's castle. |

Transmetropolitan creator Warren Ellis has recently let out a few interesting details on the upcoming direct-to-DVD Castlevania animated movie through the official Castlevania: Dracula's Curse production blog. Ellis has signed on as the animated film's screenwriter. First of all, Ellis says that it's going to be a trilogy, as in there will be three Castlevania animated films. The film will be set in Wallachia in 1476, and long-time fans will be pleased to note that the movie team has "worked with Koji Igarashi to get the film solidly inside the Castlevania timeline." Also, it won't be your generic kids' movie, so we can probably expect some mature themes here and there. According to Ellis, Igarashi has "approved everything I came up with, including some new embroidering to the timeline. To make it work as a film, I had to introduce new backstory, and I went through five drafts of the premise and three of the full outline to get the material where IGA wanted it." As for character appearances, Sypha Belnades is in, Grant DaNasty is out. The reason? Ellis gives out three, but let's just take two. Reason one: "Grant DaNasty is a stupid name that I cannot take seriously. (When he does turn up, I’ll probably use the alternate spelling of Grant DiNesti.)" Reason two: "Seriously, what use is a pirate on dry land? 'Avast, ye swabs, and push me fecking cart! Arrr!' No. Just no." |

While Xbox 360 fans may have to wait a little longer (or a lot longer, forever even) for Halo the movie, DS fans may be having better luck with the movie version of the hit franchise Castlevania. The videogame-turned-movie project will be re-telling the classic Bram Stoker's Dracula starting from the story of Romanian prince Vlad the Impaler before he became a blood-sucker.Like the Halo, the Castlevania movie project's development is far from smooth. Dimension Films dropped the movie after film director Paul W.S. Anderson's script left that company's executives' blood cold. The script, according to reports, takes place in various eras but most scenes will be in 15th century Transylvania. Then Rogue Pictures agreed to team up with Paul W.S. Anderson and Crystal Sky Entertainment to bring Castlevania to the silver screen. The movie is expected to be an "action/horror project" similar to Underworld and Blade but with "a strong romantic element." |

Yes. You read that title right. Konami's going to delay Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin and release it on February of next year. Now before you quote Dracula's immortal (teehee) lines and say "What is a man Konami? A miserable little pile of secrets delays!," please reconsider. They're not pushing the release date back without any substantial reason.A spokesperson for Konami Europe says that we're not going to see Portrait of Ruin this year so that the developers can buy some time to add more features. Yep. They're going to beef up their game and some of the features they plan to append would focus on its online connectivity. They're planning to whip out (sorry for the pun) an online mode to trade spells, an online shop that sells spells, and a two-player co-op via WiFi to battle enemy bosses. We're not sure of the other features they might implement, but given the features mentioned above, we're willing to wait. Go, Konami! At the rate they're going, Dawn of Sorrow fans have a lot to look forward to in this sequel. Buy: [Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin] |
