wifi VoiceChatClient - Image 1Infantile Paralysiser (cool name, really) finally updated his uber-useful wifi VoiceChatClient for the DS, after almost a year since its last update.

Those who aren't aware of Infantile Paralysiser's voice chat client don't know what they have missed out on: the wifi VoiceChatClient is basically what its name says, a chat application that is voice-enabled. It also supports the same scribbling function as the PenChatClient, which further adds to the fun factor.

There's only one minor tweak to this latest VoiceChatClient version, which is:
  • The WiFi library was renewed to 'dswifi-0.3.3'.
While Infantile Paralysiser provides English translations in his site, there's still some phrases that he didn't translate or clarify. As always, you can take a crack and check if you can decipher some of the entries that weren't translated into English.

Here's the download so you can try the application yourself. Be sure to spread the word to your DS-gamer friends for some chatting fun!

NDSmail - Image 1It's been a long time since Bronto last updated his NDSMail homebrew application, but today we've received word of yet another update to this excellent email application for the DS. With this app, you're never too far away from your messages, as long as you have a WiFi connection for your DS where you can access your emails.

Bronto would like to apologize for the absence of releases recently, but as he says, NDS development can be very time-consuming. It was worth the wait though, as although Bronto is still having problems with SSL, this version has been compiled with the latest Devkit, dswifi, and libfat (DLDI), so even owners of the new wifi-chipset DS Lites should be able to use it.

This latest version also contains all the changes from the large overhaul of last autumn, including save mail support. When you run this version make sure you take a look at the new attachment feature by sending some jpgs to your DS. Just remember, JPEG lib is causing some problems at the moment so try sending small JPEGs first!

DSFirst the bad news: sgstair is putting his DSWifi project on hold until sometime next year for undisclosed reasons. Okay, we'll give you a few moments to groan.

Time's up! Now the good news: In place of the DSWifi, sgstair will launch a new project which is just as exciting - to reverse engineer the Wii’s wireless hardware! Wait, there's more. He will also build a new library based on it. The Wii project is expected to start next month and will go on for few months although he has no specific timetable for that.

In addition to that, sgstair will also begin two undisclosed DS homebrew projects which he is keeping under the cloak of secrecy for now. Other project-related news from this talented homebrew developer includes a few general purpose libraries (besides the 802.11 and TCP/IP libs) and a few emulator projects he plans to work on.The currently inactive DSTunnel project may be revived as soon as he completes the Wii WiFi library. In fact, sgstair is looking at actually building DSTunnel directly for Wii.

As for the DS Wifi project, sgstair is sending an open invitation to other homebrew developers to continue working on it.
