Penny Arcade has released a schedule of activities for this year's Penny Arcade Expo (PAX). If you're planning to go to the event, we recommend checking it out so you can plan out your own schedule in advance.

We posted an article one month ago that invited readers to do a little thought exercise. Here's what we said: "On the 5th of November we're going to post an article or two about video games, gadgets, technology, and general geekness ... the things about video gaming and technology that ought not be forgotten."

So here's our list of some video gaming and technology moments worth remembering. Hope this gets you thinking (and feeling nostalgic too!). And we look forward to your comments (and arguments). What do you remember and wish that the world will never forget?

For those who don't know, HGZine is a free videogame magazine downloadable off the GamerZine website. Each issue features more than 40 pages of downloadable content, including gaming articles, embedded videos, multimedia and other interactive elements.

Issue 7 has come out featuring several other games as well, which include: God of War: Chains of Olympus, Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow, Contra 4, Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles, The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass and many more.

Dave Taylor, the publishing director of HGZine commented on the latest issue saying:

HGZine, like our other free videogames magazines, goes from strength to strength. Issue 7 is a fantastic example of this. It brings on board a new and talented editor, Dean Mortlock. Dean has years of videogames journalistic experience, and he has put together a brilliant issue full of exclusives and probably our best collection yet of interactive screens and video. This makes HGZine probably the most immersive media experience out there for gamers looking for information, and best of all, of course, it’s completely free.

HGZine is downloadable in PDF format and will require the use of Adobe Acrobat Reader 6 to read the file.

A few days ago, Nintendo announced a contest for short films. There's already an entry on YouTube but... well, it's far from being a film.

Looks like the contestant got it all wrong and decided to just edit a few clips into a short video. He simply used different images and video clips found online to patch something up worth a bit more than three minutes. The clips cover much of the series, missing only a few installments. While she may have gotten the wrong idea, we can give her props for being passionate about Zelda.

Some informative messages also appear on screen, but they could be misleading with all the mistakes. Transitions were done well, music wasn't bad, but the overall look could've used more work. The most obvious flaws are the plain texts with plenty of typos. This would've been pretty good if it was Adobe Premiere's tech demo or something of that sort.

Here's another gamerzines.com offering. Since the bigger consoles (360Zine) and PC get a version of the free downloadable magazine made for the DS and PSP called HGZine (short for Handheld GamerZine).

This issue features a number of exclusives including: WipEout Pulse (hands on and developer interview), an interview with Yasuhiro Wada, creator of Harvest Moon, and a sneak peek at Team 17's Worms.

Reportedly, Yasuhiro Wada reveals that a new Harvest Moon set to hit next year and that he thinks Microsoft is working on its own portable gaming device.

Also included are reviews of portable games like Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales, SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 2, Burnout Dominator, and Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops. Publishing director David Taylor had this to say:

Traditionally portable games have been overlooked by the games press. However, gone are the days when the DS and PSP simply get ports of cut-down versions of console games. Now we have exciting new properties like the Brothers In Arms game for DS in this issue or WipEout Pulse, where the game has been designed from the ground up for the device and gamers are now looking for ways to keep up to date with their favourite games on these platforms. HGZine is a great way to do this, with professionally written features and pages enhanced with video and multimedia.

As is usual, you'll need a copy of Adobe Reader version 6 or higher to be able to read the magazine.

December 11 will go down the history of Amazon.com as its best day ever in terms of sales. The company was able to sell more than 4 million different items, a good number of which had a lot to with video games. And who's the king of this particular videogame hill, you ask? Nintendo's handheld, of course.

The company didn't furnish exact figures for the DS Lite but mentioned that it was indeed the top seller on that day. They also highlighted the record-breaking 1,000 units sold in 29 seconds for Microsoft's Xbox 360 in their Amazon Customers Vote promotion. Mentioned too was the PlayStation 3's predecessor, the PS2, as a big seller.

In software sales, Amazon revealed that their top selling games for a single platform were New Super Mario Bros. and Brain Age, both for the DS. Sports title Madden Football ruled the multiplatform division. The MMO expansion title The Burning Crusade was the major top seller for all pre-orders. The Sims 2: Pets and art package Adobe Photoshop Elements 5 were both given recognition as well.

Amazon.com founder and CEO Jeff Bezoz couldn't help but show his appreciation to customers because of this success. "Video games were a customer favorite again this year. We are truly grateful to our customers. Happy holidays and happy new year to all from Amazon.com employees around the globe."

What is it with television shows and publications removing the E's from their words to make themselves hip? There's Punk'd, and... and... actually, that's pretty much it.

Playd Magazine is another piece of media out there with a missing vowel, but unlike Punk'd, it's got the power to make you think. It's a e-zine that covers the many different branches of gaming, with news, interviews and articles to get you in the mood to play. With their fourth issue, they want you to remember the now-defunct (but not necessarily dead) console: the Sega Dreamcast.

In addition to their Sega Dreamcast retrospective, they've also come up with previews for some upcoming multiplatform games such as Sonic the Hedgehog and Army of Two and the Wii Sports which is headed for Nintendo's next-gen console. There's even a special on Akihabara, which is Japan's well-known tech district and haven for all otaku refugees.

Their mag is in PDF format, so you can view it on any computer that reads Adobe's format. Of course, if you've got yourself a tweak of some sort for your PSP, then you could also try seeing it there. They come out with a new issue every two months, so you've got time before the next one comes out. Just head on over to their site and enjoy!
