The latest hardware sales figures in Japan show the various milestones that each platform has currently hit. The PlayStation 3 proves to be more popular in the region than the Xbox 360. The Sony console recently hit the 3 million sales mark, while Microsoft's just passed 1 million. More sales data after the link.

Well, we all saw this one coming. Because of the new features of the DSi, there will be future games that are "enhanced" for the handheld. These "Nintendo DSi Enhanced" games will make use of the handheld's features not found on the DS, like the camera.

At the ongoing GDC, Nintendo prez Iwata announced that the Wii is the fastest-selling game console in history. But who cares about that. You'll care more about the new Zelda game, as well as the firmware update that they issued as an answer to the Wii storage problem.

The latest issue of Famitsu delivers yet another hefty serving of Square Enix goodness, this time with news on a number of titles including Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, and Final Fantasy VII. Details after the link.

Mudslinging between Sony and Microsoft seems to be playing second fiddle these days to mudslinging between the PSP and the iPhone. The war between the two devices continues on during GDC, where ngmoco's co-founder Neil Young says that Apple's brainchild is "better than the DS, better than the PSP." Oh look he took a hit at Nintendo too. Pretty bold for the leader of a relatively new games company.

Defeating a marshmallow man probably doesn't match up to facing down the Locust Hord, but it does give you points. In fact, the Ghostbusters video game will be like Gears of War "Lite," says the game's producer, Garrett Moehring.

Previously listed with a May 22 release, Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings is now slated for a June release. No reason was given for the delay, but I heard from the grapevine that Indy slipped on a banana peel. My sources are very reliable.

Mario games have always been popular in the UK, and Super Mario Galaxy proves it by beating out the likes of Fallout 3, Fable II, and even GTA IV for BAFTA's Best Game Award. The GAME Award this year goes to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, as voted on by gamers.

Nintendo's going on a swashbuckling offensive, asking the US Trade Representative for help on making pirates walk the plank. They also sent out a press release, calling out certain countries where "piracy is rampant," and China is at the top of their list.

Oh goodie. Japan is getting three more DSi colors and the thing hasn't even come out yet in other regions. But I shouldn't gripe. You can do that for yourself.
