Activision has announced that Traveller's Tales' Transformers: The Game (DS, PC, PSP, PS2, PS3, Wii, Xbox 360) has finally rolled out to retail stores nationwide. The game's release has been timed to coincide with the theatrical release of the Transformers live-action film. "Transformers: The Game lets you choose your side – Autobots or Decepticons – to either protect or destroy Earth," said Will Kassoy, senior vice president of global brand management, Activision, Inc. "The game features fully destructible environments, an army of playable characters, split second changes from robot to vehicle form and a storyline that goes beyond the film to include some elements from the property’s long history that will also appeal to Generation 1 fans." |

Optimus Prime and his gang are just about to reach the silver screen, which could only mean one thing for gamers - its multiplatform tie-in, Transformers: The Game is right around the corner. Daniel Suarez, Activision's Executive Producer for the game, sat down with Gamespot to share more info on this upcoming title.
First off, he gave a rundown on the movie's story. Three guys running into giant robots, yada yada. The game won't stray too much from the original plot, but there will be some twists and turns. Instead of focusing on humans, the Transformers will be taking the spotlight. Also, taking a different angle, the games will show what would've happened if the bad guys win. As we all know, good guys always win; it's no different in the movie. Suarez continued as he shared a bit about their history, how the movie guys got in touch with the teams involved in developing the game. "This game is gonna be so cool," he quoted the CG guys as he mentioned how skilled their developers are. He also mentioned the voice actors, some coming from the original animated series. Check out the interview for yourself, to see some pretty awesome footage along the way. |

Activision's Transformers: The Game is certainly not slacking off in the least bit, preparing for its rounds across different platforms. Of course, giving you screenshots or videos of gameplay isn't enough. Artwork is just as important, and Activision took that to heart big time.
That is why we have here for you today the various pack shots of Transformers: The Game, from the Xbox 360, Wii, PSP, PlayStation 3, DS, and PC. The video games' scheduled released is still on June 19, 2007. Anyhow, the Xbox 360 gets two versions of pack shots, one being for the Cybertron edition. The only other platform that's getting two versions of pack shots would be the Nintendo DS. One is for the Autobot version, while the other is for the Decepticon version. Why don't you go ahead and see how the box arts look? Check out the pack shots for the Xbox 360 and the DS at Full Article! |

"Choosing sides is only the beginning." The latest trailer to Activision's Transformers: The Game (Xbox 360, PS3, PC, Nintendo DS, PSP) is now available on IGN, and...in all sincerity, it just blew yours truly out of his comfy computer chair and into next week. The one-minute clip doesn't show much, granted, but it reveals a striking similarity to The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction - in the sense of being able to destroy everything in your path (which is ALWAYS a good thing). The Autobots and Decepticons are laboriously modeled with striking detail and intricacy - and if the last few moments of the clip are anything to go by, you'll be able to transform seamlessly while in motion. If there had been any doubts of the game's quality, we're pretty sure this could change things. Growing up, I wasn't a Transformers fan. This trailer alone makes me want to rethink my childhood. |

Tied with the launch of the official Transformers: The Game (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PSP, Wii, two titles on DS, and PC) web site, the online multiplayer gaming experience for the fans of the highly-awaited movie and game of the same name also announced, in an official press release, the coming of its own launch. Located within the bowels of the main Transformers web site, the game will allow skilled players to pick sides and duel in one-on-one skirmishes. For every win, players will receive corresponding points for themselves and their alliance. High scorers will be awarded special prizes every week and every month, while the alliance with the highest score receives control of the AllSpark. With the AllSpark in either the Autobots or Decepticons' hands, the empowered alliance will be granted access to special sections of the site. The alliance without the AllSpark will be locked out of those same sections. The game is currently entering an upcoming Beta, and all interested gamers must register themselves, pledge allegiance to the Decepticons or the Autobots, select their bot, choose a battlefield and battle for control of the AllSpark. All these will happen in real-time. Not all gamers will be deserving of stepping up to the challenge, as the Beta of the web game will select the players worthy of testing out the game. So transform and roll out to the official web site and get a chance to be the first to try out the web game. As of publication, however, Activision has not activated the registration system yet. Keep an ear out for announcements on that. UPDATE: The registration system is now up, and all interested players can hop right onto the official Transformers: The Game web site and click on Enter Battle. Fill up the registration form, pick your robot and its name, and roll off to battle! See you there! |

The Nintendo DS release of Transformers: The Game shows a lot of promise. For the 80s generation, this game is a wonderful blast from the past. The game is based on the upcoming film from DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures which is heading to movie theaters this July. Vicarious Visions has been given the task of developing this video game, and from the list of features the it has, it doesn't look like they will be disappointing fans of the series. Essentially a battle between two factions, the Autobots and Decepticons, this game lets you decide whether you will be a protector or a destroyer of our planet. There are two versions of the game, the Autobot and Decepticon version, with the former gaining access to the Antarctic level and the latter getting the Desert level to play in. Enormous open environment city levels such as Casino Town and Hoover Dam will also be available for you to wage war in. Players will be able to use the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection to take part in the AllSpark Wars where they can help their side win via daily challenge missions and global player stats comparisons. Access to 30 unique vehicles with customizable paint schemes will be available so players can create their own customized Transformers. These custom Transformers raise their stats and abilities with every mission you play. The game features 20 story missions and 20 challenge missions. Local wireless multiplayer modes for up to four players will also be available just in case you get tired of playing with yourself. Popular teamplay modes such as Team Death Match will be available in addition to new unique modes such as AllSpark Sports. Trasformers: The Game is also available on other formats such as the PC, PS2, PS3, PSP, Wii, Xbox 360. The Nintendo DS version, however, is slated to be out this June 6. If you'd like to see more about the game, why don't you check out our previous coverage on it with screenshots? |

For starters, players will get to choose whether they want to play as the heroic Autobots or the nefarious Decepticons. Both sides have a wide array of Transformers icons such as Optimus Prime, Megatron, Bumblebee, Starscream and many more. Switching from vehicle to robot form will be almost seamless in order to adapt to whatever the situation calls for. Environments, as expected, will be fully destructible to up the sense of sheer, mindless mayhem. For those who would like to play with more of a thinking style, they can pretend to use on-screen objects to their advantage and be very proud. Hasbro and Dreamworks also revealed that the PSP version will have 20 playable characters with unique stats, abilities, personalities and more. |

The website for Transformers: The Game has already been launched, and in all honesty, it's looking just great. Loading up the site gives you the option to either Enter the Site or Enter Battle (whatever that may be since the Enter Battle section isn't open yet...). Entering the site allows one to view the game's features, as well as videos and images from the game, and even the developers' blog. The opportunity to join the Beta testing of "Battle for the AllSpark" can also be found here, by clicking on the button found at the bottom of the screen. This particular bit really drew our attention since we have been waiting for a game like this ever since we were kids. No word has been given on when the full version of the web game will be available, but you can keep checking for it via our read link below. Lastly, Activision also released some new screenshots for the game which shows the new Bumblebee in various stages of kicking Decepticon butt. The graphics are looking as polished as ever and we can't wait to get our hands on the game. |

Optimus Prime and Megatron are all set for a happy reunion for the multiplatformer game version of the classic 80s cartoon, Transformers. The voice actors, that is.
Yep, it's been confirmed. Prime voice actors Peter Cullen and Frank Welker have given their nods to reprise their roles as Autobots leader, Optimus Prime, and Decepticons head bot, Megatron for Transformers: The Game. And it was a very smart decision to make on the part of Activision, indeed. Says Activision's production head Laird Malamed, "As Transformers fans, we knew the importance of having the well-known voices of Optimus Prime and Megatron in the game." Transformers: The Game is set to head out to retail stores this summer, with Traveller's Tales doing the work for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, PS2, and PC version. Meanwhile, Savage Entertainment is working at the helm for the PlayStation Portable version, and Vicarious Visions is responsible for the development of the DS versions. So, while those companies are still busy tuning up them bots for Transformers: The Game, why don't you go check out this clip from the original Transformers series, where Optimus Prime and Megatron engages in a heated up battle? With the 80's rock music having that cheesy signature 80s lead guitar riffs playing in the background, this is sure to be one big blast from the past. |

There's a new interview about the Transformers game, courtesy of Superhero Hype, and they've got the goods on the games' features, confirming some of the earlier information we had regarding the game and adding some new info on top as well. For the most part, one of the new bits of information we've heard is that this game will start off with nine playable Transformers, which are probably the staples from the movie. You can unlock a host of other characters through play, and though we've mentioned a maximum of 20 characters previously, there may be more or less depending on what their production team manages to cook up. These characters are all supposed to have their own individual movesets, so don't expect Bumblebee to play like Megatron, because Bumblebee certainly doesn't have the same brawling capabilities of the leader-type bots. More importantly, they also note additional details on the questing system set up for Activision and Hasbro's new baby. Daniel Suarez, Activision's executive producer, notes that there'll be two different storylines depending on the type of bot you bring to battle: If the player decides to be the good guy, then their adventure will focus on the key plot points of the film where they come to Earth and are pitted against the Decepticons. On the flipside, if the player decides to be evil and picks the Decepticons, the game story is uniquely different and answers the question, "What if the Decepticons win?" All the events in the Decepticons campaign never occur in the film and were created specifically for the game. All in all, there's no reason to complain. Any game that lets you play a maniacal Decepticon hell-bent on blowing things up and ruling mankind deserves a healthy vote of confidence from gamers. Oh, and there's Megatron too. |
