tomb raider: legend dsLady Lara is about to make make her mark on the DS across the European continent beginning November 10. This, according to Eidos, is the final release date for Tomb Raider: Legend for the DS.

In the DS version, the classiest ass-kicker in the history of video games pretty much packs the same abilities and plot already seen on other platforms. She kicks down boulders, pulls down huge obstacles with grappling hooks, and performs serious acrobatics as she moves around the game. But of course, the DS shows twice the Lara. When she jumps in the water, both screens show her swimming downwards. This makes it easier to direct her movements and find air holes for breathing.

The DS version also utilizes the touch-screen menus for switching items and weapons around. Meanwhile, the DS's microphone is used for dusting off artifacts by blowing on it. Tomb Raider: Legend for the DS was developed separately from Crystal Dynamics but the authentic Croft feel is there right down to the every nook and cranny of her world.

Lara's Evolution

There are a lot of things about the arse-kicking, time-travelling, tea-sipping aristocrat-slash-wild adventurer Lara Croft's biography that have been changed since since she starred in the first six Tomb Raider games. She's now the Right Honourable Lara Croft, the 11th Countess of Abbingdon. Daughter to Amelia Croft, Countess of Abbingdon and the notorious archaeologist Richard Croft. Whilst before, she was the daughter of Lord Henshingly Croft. Reminds you of "Melrose Place," doesn't it?

Then there's also the case of her evolution (make over, if you ask us) throughout the game's releases. But one thing that never changes is that nobody will ever complain of seeing screenshots of such a fabulous femme fatale. Here are the latest screenshots of Lady Croft in Tomb Raider: Legend.

Picture taken from 1UPOkay, first things first. Will we get our hands on the Wii before the year ends? Yeah!

At least that's what Nintendo confirmed during their press conference at the Leipzig Games Convention. What else did Nintendo say? Let's find out.

Dr. Bernd Fakesch, General Manager of Nintendo Germany, opened the event with the so-called typical Nintendo speech. Basically, he emphasized the gaming possibilities that Nintendo would and will offer in the future for an expanding audience. He goes on to cite the success of Nintendogs and Brain Training, which go beyond the "usual games" category.

A pink DS Lite was also shown onstage, to confirm the said product's release in Germany on October 27. As for other announcements, an "English training" game would be released on October 13th, which would hopefully aid people in learning the language.

Of course, we cannot forget the various games showcased on the said event: Super Mario Strikers, Red Steel and a bunch of other titles for the Wii; as well as upcoming DS games like Tenchu DS, Yoshi's Island 2 and Tomb Raider.

It seems that Nintendo has much in store for both fans and curious new users alike. "End of this year" is just a few months away, so we do the waiting game.

Last time, we showed you screenshots batch 1 and screenshots batch 2 for Tomb Raider: Legend, then we saw this on YouTube, and we have to say that the graphics are fast and fluid. We also liked the way you could shoot the enemy like the game was a FPS. Cooler still is that you can use your stylus (or in this case, thumb) in taking people out.

Speculations: a standing enemy would be easy to beat, so most likely you'll be encountering quite a lot of moving enemies in this game. Big bosses will have to be light on their feet. The menu on the bottom screen changes depending on the location or setting.

Let's wait until Autumn 2006 for the game!

Last time we showed you some screenshots of Tomb Raider: Legend for DS . Well, here's some more for you! This time she's out to find an ancient English artifact (yep, she's done with other countries' ancient loot), and will go up against an enemies from the world of the dead.

Lara's dual-pistol wielding body will have the best polygon count a computer can make for the DS. Naturally, they'd like her to move as fluid as possible, thanks to the revamped control system. You can also make use of the environment, tech gear, and weapons. There's also a Physics, Water, and Fire system to make your game more interesting. Tomb Raider :Legend is turning out to be a certified DS hit.

Expect her to come swinging down the DS around Autumn 2006.
