One of the longest-running puzzle video games, Puyo Puyo, is soon to come to the Nintendo DS as Puyo Pop Fever: Puyo 15th Anniversary Carnival Edition s well along its way for its December 14 release.

A puzzle game that was originally made for the PC in 1991 by Compile, it has since been revived in many forms and for various consoles. A basic Puyo Puyo game consists of a having blob-like jelly creatures in a field, and arranging them so that four of the same color are touching each other. This causes the jellies, or Puyos, to pop, thereby casting a "spell" which disrupts your opponent's Puyo field. The game is over when one of the columns in your field reaches the top.

Puyo Puyo is also popular for its story mode as well as the wacky set of characters that one gets to meet along the way. The DS version of this game will have 22 characters from older Puyo Puyo games. Online battle will also be available via the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection, and it can support up to 8 players via singlecart or multicart.
