Look what the tide's dragged in! If you fancy your romance with a hint of Survivor, Cast Away, Lost, and a hint of Japanese animation, then you just might take a liking to Konami's upcoming Lost in Blue 2 title. The game puts you in control of a boy and a girl as they try to survive the hazards found on a deserted island.

This series of screenshots should provide you guys with a first-hand glimpse of the game's interface for the DS' touchpad, and should include some original character art for your viewing pleasure. Make sure to check out the trailer featured here in case you need more info. Expect the title to hit landfall in Japan this March 15.

No clear word about a US release (if you know of any final word on a US release, direct us to the website so your fellow DS users can know about it). The previous title, Lost in Blue, was well-received when an English version came out.

Lost in Blue and Heroes of Mana for March! - Image 1 Lost in Blue and Heroes of Mana for March! - Image 2

One of them's a strategy RPG where you fight to survive. The other one's an adventure game where you fight, cook, forage, and sleep to survive. All in all, March seems to have a lot of surviving in mind as two new DS games make their way onto store shelves in March.

Square Enix's Seiken Densetsu: Heroes of Mana features the story of Roger, a young man who actually pilots his own airship and commands his own small army of cute little monsters, as he tries to figure out why another group is also collecting materials to make their own monsters. This real-time strategy RPG should see a lot of play time among handhelds when it comes out on March 8.

On the flip side, we have the two unnamed protagonists of Konami's Lost in Blue 2. This adventure game emphasizes using the land to find food, shelter, and weaponry to survive. Eventually, you and your companion are going to have a find a way off that island, which should make the time you spent making stone spears and killing alligators rather worth the effort. This game will be in stores on March 15.

All we have to say is, it takes a lot of guts to poke an alligator with a stick, and even more guts to recruit the thing afterwards. Make sure you know what you're doing, alright?

Lost in Blue 2 screens - Image 1Lost in Blue 2 screens - Image 2

Far from being the typical romantic boy-meets-girl scenario proliferating books and movies today, Lost in Blue 2 takes us back to that deserted island where you must struggle to keep yourself alive amidst the hunger and all the dangers that lie ahead. (Okay so it's more of boy-meets-girl-then-find-themselves-in-Survivor?)

Anyway, Lost in Blue 2 will also teach players to momentarily quit the whole battle of the sexes thing because you and the girl would have to work together and find a way to get off the island, gather weapons to use in fighting off wild animals, and more importantly, find food in order to subsist.

As compared to its predecessor, Lost in Blue 2 will make more intensive use of the DS touchscreen, wherein you'll be able to build and examine objects using the stylus. And in addition to conquering external physical elements, the pair will also find themselves going against the wrath of Mother Nature as you'll also have to survive through the hurricanes and earthquakes that will occur out of the blue (pun not intended). Lost in Blue 2 is set to hit the shelves and take you to a tropical-paradise-gone-awry in Q1 2007.

There's a lot of salt water in the sea. You can't drink it, it takes a really long time to turn the salt water into salt, and it always makes your skin get all wrinkly and unfit for modeling inside a video game. However, if your boat starts sinking and you end up on an island with a girl, there's not much choice but to stop whining about your skin and help the girl find food.

One of the latest trailers at TGS 2006 shows us just what it takes to end up on the beach with a pretty girl as you struggle to survive. Just add one boat, stormy weather, your Nintendo DS, and the simulation of hand motions with the stylus and you've got yourself the makings of Konami's Lost in Blue 2. Enjoy the YouTube video, and bring some bottled water the next time you plan on getting stuck on a deserted island, alright?

Lost in Blue 2

Thar be a bit more time fer the International Talk Like a Pirate Day, so let's make the most of it by being keelhauled from our own ship! Cast adrift on the open seas, we find ourselves on a deserted island.

Methinks we're not in Kansas anymore.

Well, you and your oppositely-gendered partner on this ill-fated excursion to parts unknown must work together to survive on an island on your wits and your stylus smacking skills. Konami's Lost in Blue 2 works upon the original DS title by introducing other sensible points to remember for survival, like resting and drinking water to keep your strength up. In addition, you still get to walk around with your partner looking for food and other implements to survive just like the first game.

For now though, here are some teasers for the upcoming Nintendo DS game. It's set for a 2007 release, so you better start practicing building those campfires.

Now if you'll excuse us... that's still a few more hours till International Talk Like a Pirate Day ends. Where's me hook?!

Lost in BlueAt the Leipzig Games Convention, Konami announced the sequel to its Lost in Blue game for the DS. Titled Lost in Blue 2, the game will once again force players to think about how to survive on a deserted island. You will play as a young man with a young female friend just like in the last game. You'll be held back by physical limitations. You'll need to hunt for food and explore the island, but you'll also be forced to rest, eat, and drink.

"In addition to the physical elements the pair faces, Lost in Blue 2 also makes more extensive use of the touch screen capabilities of the Nintendo DS. Items are easily collected and examined by the player, while the stylus is now used for carpentry, wicker work, cooking food that would otherwise make the heroes ill, and skin diving.

The two characters also boast individual skills, with the male character more physically adept at climbing, fighting and recovering his energy levels, while the girl is more accurate with a bow and arrow, can hold her breath underwater for longer and is more adept at finding ingredients for meals.

Other new elements include the ability to fight wild animals when threatened, using whatever weapons the pair have accrued. Similarly, the island’s tropical location leaves the heroes exposed to hurricanes and earthquakes, adding an unpredictable element to a game that constantly surprises and delights the player."

The game is expected to hit the DS in early 2007.
