Did you know the games Bomberman and LodeRunner are actually connected? For those who do not, here's a little trivia: the LodeRunner NES version had the first appearance of Bombermen as evil enemy robots. Also, the end screen in the NES version of Bomberman mentions the original White Bomberman having turned human with the LodeRunner behind him.

Amazing, huh? Well, developer Hudson has something more amazing than that - these new screenshots from LodeRunner DS! As of now, there are still no further details regarding the game. We only know that the game itself uses the touch screen with a full-level overview on the top-screen. The new title includes related titles such as Championship Lode Runner.

LodeRunner enters the Japanese market by October 26. Release date for the U.S. market is still to be announced.

According to Japanese magazine Famitsu, Games publisher Hudson, the same team that plans to release TurboGrafx games for Nintendo's Virtual Console system are planning yet another step into the Nintendo gaming market with the October 26th release of Lode Runner for Nintendo DS in Japan.  A short preview featuring Lode Runner for the DS in Famitsu didn't reveal much, however we do know that the DS version will include other Lode Runner titles like Championship Lode Runner, and that the action will take place on the touch-screen with a full-level overview on the top-screen.

We have also found some screenshots of the game on Hudson's official Lode Runner site, but the site doesn't reveal anything we do not already know about the game from the Famitsu preview. We just have to wait for the US release date to be announced.
