Front Mission 1st DS - Image 1Alright Front Mission fans, there's a big ray of hope for all of you. If our meager Japanese language skills aren't mistaken, there may very well be a North American release of Front Mission 1st for the DS.

For those not in the know, the Front Mission series date back from Super Nintendo days, featuring in-depth strategy game play much similar to many Tactics titles, such as Final Fantasy Tactics and Tactics Ogre.

There have already been speculations that this title won't be carried over to the US, since the last two Front Mission titles were not able to make it in North America. This new piece of information is truly a godsend for Front Mission fans itching for their dose of double weapon-wielding machines of doom and destruction.

There is no release date yet, but you can count on QJ to keep you updated. As always, stay tuned!

Why can't Square-Enix show North America some promo love? - Image 1IGN reports that there's a Square-Enix exclusive competition where 30 60GB PS3s are at stake. The only problem is that it's Square Enix-exclusive: it's (a) only in Japan, and (b) only for members of Squeenix's exclusive Square Enix Members rewards program.

Well, just in case you are in Japan and are a member... or know someone who's in Japan and is a member... The competition runs from March 8 to April 30. For every purchase of Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix +, or the DS titles Front Mission 1st and Seiken Densetsu Heroes of Mana, members get one chance to win one of the 30 60GBs.

Multiple entries will be counted (of course, someone at Squeenix might be wondering why you're hoarding a stash of KH2: Final Mix +s...). And for the 30 lucky winners, the only thing left to wait for would be Final Fantasy XIII, then. Winners will be decided by random drawing. Like we said: got a rather generous pen pal in Japan?

We told you in an earlier article that Square Enix has sent the Front Mission 1st demo to TGS, and that most of us were left hoping that the game will make its way to US shores because the demo showed the game's menu options and weapon names in English. But this still hasn't been confirmed so basically we're still...hoping.

But what we do have are the first screenshots of Front Mission 1st for the DS, and based on what we see, it's looking good. Square Enix must really we working on updating the game's graphics for the DS, which will be a remake of the 1995 SNES classic under the same title. The game is said to be slated for a Japanese release this winter, but still no announcements yet as to whether it will make its way to North America. So while waiting for more updates on the game, why don't cha enjoy these screenshots we have for you. Rest assured we'll keep you posted for any developments.
