Besides racing around in a racetrack, beating up other Nintendo franchise characters and banging on his bongos, here's the big bad brown DK himself doing something that we've probably never seen him do for a long time: climb stuff. Monkeys do it, baboons do it, we're guessing gorillas do it too - and DK's a master at it, as you'll see in this gameplay video of Nintendo's DK Jungle Climber for the Nintendo DS.

In this video, we see the game in action, and while it's no Donkey Kong Country, it certainly has that flavor - and the climbing aspect of it is done pretty well, despite looking just a bit weird. Particularly the bit with DK using his climbing skills to turn a wheel in order to reach new heights - it's quite clever, and shows off the game's mechanics pretty nicely.

Nintendo fans who are just about tired of waiting for the Donkey Kong DS video game's release can now let out their collective sighs of relief. Nintendo Company Ltd. has just launched Donkey Kong: Jungle Climber's official website. The game will be developed by Paon Corporation and is slated to be released in Japan on August 9.

A few gameplay details are revealed in the site: the shoulder buttons will be used to climb through the various stages, and DK: Jungle Climber will have at least 4 worlds. There is also a possibility of getting a Wi-Fi-enabled mode for this game, judging by the VS mode indicated in the website. The VS section is still not up on the website though.

Looks like the Nintendo DS is going to get a bunch of nice games to be released soon. More details as we get them.

DK: King of Swing DS is the follow up to the first King of Swing on the GBA. In this game King K. Rool is up to no good again, and it's up to Donkey Kong to swing into action. Using the same simple control scheme that made the DK: King of Swing GBA game so accessible and fun to play, players of all skill levels can swing and climb to new heights made possible by the dual screens of the Nintendo DS. Some of the new features include Diddy Kong as a sub-character, new moves, new items and a bunch of mini-games.
